As it is right now, the +500 base damage for using a rifle, smg, or injector just doesn't compare to the other options, so here are my thoughts for alternate effects:

  • All targets struck are linked together, then are all hit again and the damage is multiplied by total linked targets.
  • Recover Shields equal to the damage dealt to each target. (This one could work well with swords)
  • Enemies killed trigger 1 extra Cudgel Strike.
  • Enemies are marked and take more damage for a duration.
  • Enemies killed drop extra ammo/gold/secondary charges.
  • Enemies killed reduce the cooldown.

I agree with you that they should be changed

but I'm not sure how good any of these are

anything with enemies killed won't work too well, because of the SMG, rifles, and injectors low damage when paired with cudgel

so that leaves

however the last two don't affect the cudgel attack directly like holding a sword, shotgun, sniper, etc

but again, with the cudgels low damage when paired with this, it's not very effective

granted this is all speculation, and Altanna will probably come prove me wrong, but these options don't really fit with the way cudgel works imo

Good points, here are some more ideas:

  • Bonus damage equal to a percentage of the targets health
  • The copy moves at half speed, but constantly shoots projectiles at the nearest enemy based on weapon damage and rof.
  • A lucky shot bonus for every hit? (as apposed to the sword bonus for the first hit)
  • Damage is multiplied by the weapons level.
  • A variant of the linking idea: When an enemy is hit they are added to the link and everyone in the link take the damage. So the first target hit will take damage for every other enemy hit.
  • Weapon Inscription bonuses are doubled?(I am not sure if all of the weapons inscription come into play)

I'm not sure if weapon inscriptions affect cudgel at all (they might, idk)

but I like numbers 1, 2, and 4 on that list
