Swords can't naturally crit. Another way to help you crit would work. There's a spiritual link which gives you a crit chance when in the air or there is deadly counter where you crit after taking damage

You also don't have to use just snipers
Gradual improvement actually works better with non-snipers

It and effective split are very odd, it's very high variance and has some risk to it, but the potential rewards are so great that I always find myself taking them
Curiosity box I think is actually quite a bit better in R8 than effective split, enhanced or not
You're pretty unlikely to get a curse that screws you in a big way and still have a decent chance to encounter curse removal if you do
And the unnecessary or actively detrimental regular scrolls of curiosity are discardable
Whereas you could absolutely get stuck with something like flesh and bones or resolute on Lei Luo if you go for split

I'm thinking this is because the gemini share with Lightning offhand gives the primary weapon effective damage bonus against shields, which would raise the damage of the initial hit that triggers combustion therefore raising the combustion damage as well. So it' true.
Basically the wiki is suggesting you'll do more combustion damage against shields if your offhand gemini is 
, but of course that also means you'll have to apply 
and

For some reason, element share gemini allowed the offhand weapon's element to affect stuff like Combustion (and Shock, before it got completely screwed over).
Back before Combustion got updated, it had no inherent element, so any element the offhand had would be transferred over to Combustion, increasing/decreasing damage accordingly.
Now though Combustion is always Fire/Corrosion elemental. This means that if your offhand is Lightning, that element will still transfer over but you keep what it already had, resulting in Combustion being Fire/Lightning/Corrosion elemental.

Turtle cannot fire weapons while Tidal Aspis is active.
Cloud Weaver doesn't need to fire to hit enemies. You just need to look at them.
Dunno about using 2 of them, but that's the explanation for its use in general.

Energy Draining requires you to devote yourself to it to get to the absurd amounts of power. You borderline must use a weapon with high hit count while element sharing with a fire weapon to reach those numbers.
Her skills however, don't. Pick ascensions, pick scrolls, shoot fireballs. Done.

They also added more spiritual blessings and buffed spiritual blessings that didn't need to be buffed, because of course they did.
Oh and they added a new Bizarre Dream modifier Interdependent Fortunes.
Which gives players extra scrolls, but also gives enemies buffs similar to the scrolls you gained debuffs that are disguised as buffs which the player can force on them.

He has no OP builds that he can just activate by picking his first blessing. He must get lucky with ascensions and scrolls to reach that level.
And given how a chunk of his stuff is devoted to defensive options further worsens that problem. Especially on multiplayer where defensive options are redundant because revives exist.
Even the optimal way to use his secondary skill is to abandon all damage from weapons and leap and just use cleave, because otherwise you're only hurting your future damage output.
And he's one of... 2? heroes that has an ascension that hurts him if you pick it at the wrong time. All or Nothing. Dog is the other hero with Twin Gunner.

Dog's only broken if you take his blessings because most of them are OP.
Without them you get a hero who has crappy shields, almost no HP recovery which you need to get lucky to fix, needs to upgrade 2 weapons resulting in them both being weaker, his specialty with explosions relies heavily on fighting groups otherwise the damage sucks (unless you use Shrieker or the hilariously powerful Deafening Mortar), his primary skill has an extremely long downtime and part of the uptime can be wasted unless you get lucky, and he has a secondary skill that is virtually worthless outside of staggering enemies, because the damage scaling is bad.

Just got back from a walk. But yeah, I guess I do evaluate things very differently as a solo player; I can see how bird would struggle when he has to keep up with other characters and not just have enough damage to beat the game, especially in reincarnation where the difference in blessing quality widens that gap further
In solo, his abundance of defense has made him feel like a fun and consistent pick in spite of the DPS weakness, since it matters a bit less in singleplayer imo

In solo Birb is definitely more sustainable, however on high difficulties often the best defence is a good offense. Nothing can kill you if they're already dead.
So he ends up having to protect himself while slowly killing enemies, unlike everyone else who just... kills enemies.

With DS you get 3 uses plus 300% weapon damage at max stacks.
And you're not forced to use specific weapons unlike weapon mastery.

You can self impose challenges, especially with the new bizzare dream, you can choose scrolls that will intentionally make it harder. but if youre playing to win its so easy to

The way I usually play is mysterious jokul plus lone wolf, either taking a low combat impact blessing or no blessing, or taking a high impact blessing and skipping the blessing before tombs
And avoiding things like atomic nade or spores builds
I've found that's been a good balance for me

i usually go for enhanced weapon if i wanna do a weapon build or gambler if i want good ascensions, i never take overconsumption its just not fun

Honestly overconsumption's gimmick is cool on paper insofar as relying on it becomes harder in late game but late game is very rarely a challenge outside of specific elites
I'd like it better if the damage numbers were toned pretty far down but it was fixed values

I've never been able to make it work
It might genuinely be the second or third worst weapon in the game
It's just so slow for the damage it deals
The retrieval is better but it takes forever to actually get meaningful damage out of that cuz you have to spend so long chucking spears and accomplishing nothing first
Like compare it to the aura of venom
It has the same crit x, a bit less damage, but more than double the fire rate
And then it has the aura alt fire and one of the best corrosion chances in the game
It might genuinely be worse than glimmering XD
