They start out thinking they're just both interested in the same boy and rivals over him... but then suddenly Iruma becomes a bit of a romantic afterthought, and they keep attentively watching their "rival" instead of him...
Oh, angsty version where each independently realises that her feelings are changing, but think the other is, and remains, only interested in Iruma.
I think Ameri might do something about that first. Decide to step back graciously, and let Iruma and Clara be happy together. She cares deeply for them both, after all, she will do The Right Thing here.
And she does a whole very formal concession speech to Clara which is still half a shovel talk, telling her that she has won, that she is the better woman, and that she better take what she wants and hold on to it with both hands, and make Iruma happy.
While Clara is panicking, because??? what? no! No, she doesn't want Lady Red to give up on their Very Important And Only Slightly Homoerotic Rivalry!!! Why is she being rival-broken-up with!? Also, if she should take what she wants, then she would actually be taking-
(Azz was a bad influence on Clara in this regard, by the way. His view on meaningful relationships is warped in about a dozen different ways, thanks to being Amu's son, losing her, police junior academy brainwashing, All Of Eito, and the recent 180 u-turn he made in regards to loyalty and justice and Iruma. He's terrible at giving relationship advice, and is personally of the opinion that everyone has strange obsessive and slightly gay feelings about their most important rivals and companions that don't mean anything else at all, haha!)

I will also say this:
There's a lot of parallels to Chapter 17 and 94 here. SOme might say there's too many but honestly the fact that it leads to Ameri and Clara getting closer makes this cool. It's an outcome I genuinely didn't expect.
Cause you get a whole-ass two page bridal carry with flowers and stuff. And then you get Ameri and Clara having that talk together.
The two have been paired together here and there and I really wanna see where this goes. Maaaan the Mafia AU is fun.

Especially when it's two "rivalling" M/F ships that turn into the same-sex "rivals" having realisations about each other. Because it's what I wish would happen with most of these love triangle situations, anyway.
That said, even if Ameri and Clara start dating each other, I think they might still let Iruma tag along on their dates. As a treat for him. He likes seeing his friends happy, and to have fun with them!

Admittedly, in that early main manga chapter of Clara trying seduction, she also cared a great deal about being perceived as a "girl" (so, pretty, feminine, etc.) by Iruma in the end, so I think in theory it could work either way. They're both potentially insecure about it, about being either too big and too forceful, or too small and too childish, which makes it particularly heartwarming to imagine them both finding each other especially cute, and being complimented and reassured liberally.

Chapter 2 preview
Clara always deemed herself as an accessory of convenience to be able to provide for: entertainment, nourishment, a good laugh, and satisfaction. Neither of those she never felt. That was until: Asmodeus and Iruma. For once, her relationships weren't based off on a ledger; liberty was all that Clara could feel.
Until now.
"Scarlet-chan, when can I gooooooooooo?" Clara whined, rocking back and forth while cross-legged.
Ameri crossed her arms, her brows furrowing with impatience: "Valac, I've already told you! After you finish writing apology letters to faculty."
She sighed, "But by the time you individually approve them, I'll be having more wrinkles than Eggie-sensei!" Clara groaned.
"Perhaps if you cut out the hyperbolic attitude, you could finish twice as fast, then you would be able to see Iruma-kun and Asmodeus."
"IRUMA-CHI AND AZZ-AZZ?!" Clara's head shot up and continued writing, faster than she previously had.
Ameri was doing her own work: she had to reply to some emails, sign more batra applications and requests. The list went on, and on, and on. Luckily, the list was shorter than previous school days. Ameri felt more like an adult than a student at Bablys, that's what made her envy the other girls that she is close to. She glances at Clara, then at her computer screen, then back at Clara. Did she feel bad? No, that's not it. Why would she feel guilty for Clara when she's the one who's also in love with her love interest, Iruma? Ameri is extremely intelligent and could wrap her head around things with ease, but not this. Though, naturally, Ameri is not an expert with distinguishing her emotions: just like her dad. Ameri fanned herself with her hand as the room was reaching inferno-like temperatures despite the fact the windows were all open, there just wasn't a breeze to drift into the room. Clara noticed this.
With a simple boop to her pockets, she pulled out a fan. "Scarlet-chan, you need?" Clara held it out with a smile.
"No, no. I'm alright. I appreciate your offer but I will have to decline." How would it look if she took help from a student, she's the one that has to help out! What kind of president would she be? An unprofessional one at that.
"Suit yourself." Clara dropped her pen onto the desk and started to fan herself, her hair elevated upwards and was pushed back by the air, she closed her eyes and smiled like a dog looking out of the window. Ameri was looking at the fan go round, and round, and round. She couldn't resist any longer.
"Do you think you can conjure up another one of them?" Ameri asked, trying to remain polite and not pushy.
"As much as I would, Scarlet-chan, I'm soooooo tired from all this writing... I don't think I can. :("
Ameri sighed, "Fair dues." She darted her eyes back to the screen while continuing to fan herself down with her left hand, she had no water either. "Ugh!" She rested her head in her hands, accepting defeat yet not embracing it either. Ameri looked up and Clara wasn't there, her heart was racing. What happened? Why is she gone? Did she run away? Is she alright?
Sat upon her shoulders, came a voice. "We can share it."
Ameri's heart skipped a beat. "You startled me! Do not do that- wait, that's besides the point! Get off me this instant!"

The Evidol outfit is relatively close to the Mafia outfit, as far as I recall, I think it's a pretty good look on her, and fits her better than something overly cutesy and ruffled would. Walter Park... honestly, I'm struggling to recall it right now.

I can however rate her ball outfits, the chapter 90 (or 91? The one with Azz) is my favourite, the sort of sparkly bodysuit once more highlights her figure nicely in its elegant simplicity, and I like the slightly more modern vibe to contrast the more conventional ballroom dresses on other attendants. It's an interesting direction for Ameri's role in high demon society, to suggest her being slightly unique and modern and representing future leadership of the Netherworld.
The 179/180 dress, I don't like very much, because it's the exact opposite, it's that classic princess-y ballroom dress, and I think it reflects that Ameri is attending this ball in a different role. That's more the dutiful Azazel daughter, having to dance with whoever asks, being Seen in society - so, the more conservatively and traditionally beautiful dress does reflect this rather nicely, but at the same time it doesn't feel like her to me. Not least because the skirt covers her legs so fully, which are her primary weapon, and therefore often either revealed by a skirt, or she's wearing some form of pants.
Her latest ball outfit is kind of cute, though - it's a bit of a middle ground, a little more whimsical with the bunny(?) coat, and it seems like an outfit she might've had fun picking out (not least because some of the social pressure is removed thanks to the anonymity aspect).

I like the sort of vest and high collar, and the shorts create more the sort of outline I like on her, instead of the flare a short skirt would create. It's also a bit more unique with the design elements, though in this particular picture the dark background does diminish it somewhat, because I keep thinking she has no shoulders, at first glance, which throws off her proportions (more than they're already a bit off by law of cute-hot anime girl body shape).
But also, of course this is all influenced by my own aesthetic sensibilities and interpretations of Ameri as a character, and what I perceive as an oversaturation of the cute anime girl market with beauties in school-uniform-adjacent outfits with super short skirts, which makes Ameri's outfit seem sort of run-of-the-mill (though her third year uniform improves on it a little, at least).

Exactly! It's a pretty dress in theory, but in practice, on Ameri in that particular situation, it's got all that baggage clinging to it, and doesn't seem like something she would actively like herself in. Which does tend to also be important to me, not just how the outfit looks on any character with those proportions, but also what it says about this specific character in that situation. If there's a disconnect there, it's just not as appealing to me.
Since we're in the Clarameri Batra, I will add that Clara's outfits are always very fun and very her, and while Mafia Clara does also pull off a suit very well, ruffles and puffy skirts and silly patterns and fun colours all look great on her and are enhanced by the joy she clearly finds in being a Weird Little Valac(tm).
