#Microphone not showing up despite permissions enabled and running as Admin

Hello! I looked through the server and couldn't find an answer so I am posting this in hopes to...

I have had no issues with my mic being detected in Vtube Studio until recently. (the only things I changed are the addition of a third monitor and changed where the computer is in the room)
I have reconnected my mic to other USB ports (all other applications like OBS can read it just fine), verified file integrity on steam, uninstalled and reinstalled files, reset my app permissions for the mic, and run the program as administrator but to no avail

Is there anything else I can try? Cause I really want to use my advanced lipsync rigging

Update: we have tried multiple settings and even tried a second mic (via my webcam), but it is STILL not showing up

my security settings showed the last time Vtube Studio read my mic was on the 8th... has any small updates happened since then?

Update 2: so it turns out we had to uninstall my Realtek audio drivers cause it's a Unity issue apparently? Wack but maybe it's something to look into

#

it's fixed now!

NEVER MIND IT'S GONE AGAIN

I restarted the program cause the Advanced Lipsync was not showing (and the parameters for my mouth closed were not correct) and now all my mics are gone again

Adding a monitor shouldn't mess with the microphone settings, only the headphone/speakers

#

What you might be running into is windows re-ordering the device id's when the device is turned on or off

#

Like if you use voicemeeter, even though you might have the right voicemeeter device selected in VTS or a dozen other programs , as soon as another sound device is detected (Eg another monitor, or a microphone) it changes the device id number. So Unity/other software has to be told to find the device by the full string name to avoid that.

#

That said, I feel this shouldn't be the problem you're running into unless you have a monitor that has a built in microphone

as far as I know, the monitor has built in speakers but not a microphone

I unplugged the monitor just in case but it still showed nothing
