#Fixes to Naval Fights

Naval fight is pretty good. Although i do have a few issues with it.

First is the water is too blue, so rather than looking like actual water, it looks like the ships are moving on a blue goop. I suggest you make it a bit more transparent or lighter in colour so it would contrast better with the ships that are already dark in tone.

Second is the enemy plane. I know what you're trying to do with that, but frankly it takes away from the main focus of the mode which is sinking ships. Because i found out i wasted a lot of time just to deal with them before getting back to the main fun. I suggest getting rid of the guy entirely and replace it with more AA for the ship.

Third is the ship's AA fire. WW2 ships have dozens of AA platforms but when i play i only see one or three or four streaks of AA fire at best. Which gives ne multiple windows to just drop the torpedo directly on the ships instead of having to throw it from afar

Fourth is i found out that if you go into full power, the ammo from the enemy has a certain range before disappearing...which kinda explains for itself why its an issue.

Fifth is the UI. When i saw "Bomb" i thought i was supposed to drop it directly. Only when i missed one did i realise it was a torpedo so....a simple fix from "Bomb" to "Torp" will do.

I suggest looking into a game called Warplanes WW2 dogfight. Which has a pretty fun and realistic enough naval mode and we can take inspiration from.

@lament sequoia i posted it:^

Perfect, thanks. As I fix each one I'll mark them off

#

Do you have an example of what you think is good water?

sour skiff
#

I don't have a concrete example but you know how atm out ships are kinda dark in tone right?

lament sequoia
#

yep, so they would stand out more with lighteR?

sour skiff
#

Yep i think just make it a bit lighter in color so the ships would stand out a bit more

#

Add a bit transparency too so it won't look like blue liquid rather than water

Definetly B

#

Gives off a Pacific ocean feel to it

#

C is a bit too light it makes it feel like she ships are in shallow waters

#

Battle of Okinawa or Saipan or stuff like that where the ships are really close to shore

#

Yea, B is good because C feels like the water is a bit too shallow for ships that big to be in

#

Do you know the occurrence where the Atlantic ocean meets the Pacific?

#

Atlantic (Right); Pacific(left)

#

This should give you a fair reference of what kind of color tone the ocean is actually like

#

For ships with dark undertones i think you should adopt the azur tone of the Pacific. Whereas the deeper blue ocean should be reserved for European ships, which are usually either metalic in color or has dazzle camoflage

Fair point but the Grey Ghost doesn't fight in the Atlantic does she

#

I think this is just a matter of model constraints

night dove
#

And in all honesty, the Atlantic is often overshadowed by the Pacific, so I think it’d be better to choose the Atlantic

#

Until we have more ww2 aircraft, so we can choose say a dauntless, and fight Zeros or something

#

Also, I was thinking and AI squadron would be nice too

#

That would fix the lack of AA on the ships

#

Ofc make the AA somewhat in accurate so we don’t get lasered out of the sky

sour skiff
#

Or just...simply bump up AA so it won't be completely useless. The point of AA in this mode i think is not about shooting you down but punishing you for flying too close and too slow

#

Basically playing incorrectly

night dove
#

Fair

#

I was just thinking of making it more historically accurate

#

But I see your point

sour skiff
#

We still need fun so. Just enough historical accuracy is enough. The goldilocks zone is to be like BF1. Where theres just enough accuracy to be immersive but not so much it became a mil-sim or worse, War Thunder

sour skiff
#

Whereas in the Pacific almost every battle has an entire fleet of aircraft carriers and they're actually a pivotal part

#

I didn’t even think about that

Any recommendations for a Japanese and US plane to use that are both carrier based and ideally can both carry torpedos would be great

night dove
#

Japanese don’t really have a fighter that doubles as a torpedo bomber

#

I’ll keep searching though

#

The B5N2 “Kate” would probably be better than the Nakajima B5N

For Japan the B5N2

Ok thanks, I will look to add these soon. I'll still let players chose even if dropping torpedo's with stuka is kind of unrealistic

#

I know people have their favorite planes they want to ues

There are fighters with naval attack capabilities such as the F4U-4 with HVAR rockets but you gotta understand topedoes are really heavy. If you want to carry a torpedo you have to be big but that translates to poor ATA capabilities

It would be also cool if you can choose to play with ww2 planes and ships or new ships and fighter jets

It’s a fighter and can carry torpedoes
