it does that because you do not know what storm it is till it arrives unless you have an antenna. Having an antenna gives you the upcoming weather as well as remote control abilities( when you unlock that)

Interesting since other storms would tell me which storm is about to arrive and other times it would do this, just flash all the icons so I assumed it must be a bug

might still be if its telling you sometimes and not others... I have not gotten a weather alert while away from an antenna so it might do that when I am in the rover for example not sure yet.

If you’re within range of a powered antenna it will tell you the type of event incoming
If you move out of its coverage it will stop telling you what’s coming
