It's annoying that the camera angle is so fixed and near on the player character.

Therefore 3 suggestions:

  1. either increase the radius of the camera movement around the player. This would show not only individual buildings but also part of the entire base. Would be more visually appealing than just a screen-filling gray outer wall. (if it was at least a complete glass dome)

  2. point the angle of the camera to the sky instead of the ground. Then you would at least see something of the night sky.

  3. possibly also if you slowed down the timeskip a little. This would still result in a nice animation in the night sky inkl sunset and dawn.

Osiris (another space survival game) handled this really well. It had a "pull back" camera that picked a terrain spot near the player's base that showed a slow panorama of the player's whole base.
