hi
first off, which manual are you following currently?
dev.java i guess
which website is this screenshot you posted earlier from
this
now what to do next
where did you unzip it to
can you send a screenshot of the unzipped folder
yes
then the command should be set JAVA_HOME=%HOMEPATH%/Desktop/jdk-19.0.2
not what you entered earlier
yeah that's expected
can you do echo %JAVA_HOME% and echo %PATH% and send the results?
then try to run java -version
did you do java -version
search for System properties, start it, go to the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables, then send a screenshot of what that looks like
click on the first New button at the top, send a screenshot of that
then
what does it look like
Variable name is JAVA_HOME, variable value is C:\Users\divga\Desktop\jdk-19.0.2\
done
make a new cmd window, then try echo %JAVA_HOME%
wtf
next
what does this look like now
lol wait
i didn't click on ok
wait i need to redo it
like this
now?
@glass coral
wrong New button...
i told you which one
ok
eh whatever it should be fine
let me redo it
open a new cmd window again, echo %JAVA_HOME%
done
which output
next, click on the Path variable in the bottom section, then click on the Edit button below it
how does it look
click the New button, and enter C:\Users\divga\Desktop\jdk-19.0.2\bin
done
then click OK
after that, new cmd window and try java -version
same error
screenshot
what the fuck
isn't there any direct method
can you try "C:\Users\divga\Desktop\jdk-19.0.2\bin\java" -version
Because you didn't just take an msi from adoptium
??
what does that mean
Admittedly you seem to have found a tutorial that isn't exactly helpful
your jdk isn't where you want it to be
that was the issue
go into your jdk folder again, then put cmd in the address bar and press enter
now what should i do
screenshot
(Or, you know, just installing IntelliJ and commanding it to install Java)
also an alternative
tell me the easier way
move the jdk-19.0.2 folder to your home directory
so to C:\Users\divga
out of your desktop
here?
one second
is this faster?
alright, in this cmd, do cd .., then after that, move jdk-19.0.2 C:\Users\divga\jdk-19.0.2
maybe
oh wait
??
and pick the .msi thing
scroll down
there are downloads
pick the right .msi download for your system and you should be good to go
what the fuck
https://github.com/adoptium/temurin19-binaries/releases/download/jdk-19.0.2%2B7/OpenJDK19U-jdk_x64_windows_hotspot_19.0.2_7.msi this is the direct download link
does this work
yes
finnally
dude my net is lagging
a lot
i think i need to rest
bye
will get back at nigh
night
lol
https://adoptium.net/ then just download extensions for java in vs code
make sure to click that it should be for all users
done
I have solution: IntelliJ
hello
i'm back
guys i don't want eclipse
@glass coral
any video tutorial?
@hollow grove @fallen idol
For starters, where is Eclipse coming from? Was it named in this discussion?
........ That wasn't an answer
no no i got it
why the hell is it taking so much time
it failed to install
what should i do now?
@hollow grove
@fallen idol
I don't know what you're doing
i just followed this
downloaded and ran it
Uh. Okay, we're getting into less normal territory here. How do you know it failed to install?
it is showing right?
see this
that is not the temurin installer
it redirected me to it
you downloaded that from dev.java, didn't you
which country do you live in
india
your internet provider might've censored some sites for some reason
can you visit https://marketplace.visualstudio.com
yes
then the installer's just bad
you already installed this one, right?
yes
yes
open cmd, try java -version again
there we go
ok next
I don't have the first clue on how to use Java with VSC... And why would anyone even consider doing that?
I hear it's possible to, though not a great experience
it's easier to run programs
@glass coral
Ah, I'm glad that it's easier, apparently you're doing it easily right now
Slayer stop pinging
If people want to help, they will
Id suggest downloading IntelliJ, it's a simpler solution to this problem
"Coding pack for Java" lol
Just run the actual installer and not malware
Then get the extensions from the marketplace
So you need to go to the marketplace and find your Java extensions
i hv completed installing temurin
i dont even know what that is lol
@split lynx please do not dm me
keep it on this server
which files
bets of luck soldiers 🫡 i can't take this anymore lol
@glass coral
give me a second
these project files
i'm not your parent
there are thousands of tutorials online
please try to use google before asking me
probably
ok
yeah i know
ok and i am done
thank you guys
