it'll still show up as jre tho
isn't it supposed to be jre 19.0.1 or something
if I switch back to 17, it's still like that
that's right. You choose what you want. You chose to select on your owm, and in optionbox you selected 19 (or 17, up to you)
everything is fine. select 19 and create project
idk in this tutorial I'm watching, the guy had 13.0.1 (this was in 2020)
code written in 13 will be working in 19
I'm so paranoid because when I forgot to uncheck the info module thing, I couldn't run my code. I'm getting really annoyed with these seemingly small problems tbh
just strictly follow guide and that's it
so even though the circled part is just jre, it's fine?
it's not active, it doesn't matter what is selected in there
the checkbox is "use the execution environment JRE" and you chose 19. That's it.
so I can just select 19 from here, and it'll be fine? If so, is there anything else I should do here to prevent any future problems?
yes
there is really nothing to to do anymore except to select the location for your project
just click Browse and select the place where you want your project to be stored
or click on "use default location"
and you will be fine
okay one more thing, it won't matter at all if I choose between Java-SE 17 or 19?
sorry if all these questions are bothering you
if you are going to follow the guide that uses 13, so it doesn't matter absolutely
np
sorry another problem, I apparently don't have any system library here, so I can't even print something out
the top one is from the guy in the video
what JRE did you pick for your project
you know what I'm just going to completely delete Eclipse
lmao fr use Intellij
do you know how I can delete it without it retaining any memory
retaining any memory? can't you just uninstall it normally?
because I'm so tired of how needlessly complicated it is to properly download it. I spent two hours on this shit and I couldn't even print one string
no it still remembers some things when I do it. The regular "create a new java project" sign doesn't show up
you always have to save your files when you edit them in Eclipse
that's one downside
might confuse you at times
screw it should I just find another tutorial for a different java program
what are you having trouble with exactly
you should show the project screen'
and then the project
file > new > java project
no the main from before gets added
and it's prob too late because I also tried deleting some things to see if it can work it out
wdym
this doesn't work? how?
at this point I just want to get rid of Eclipse without it retaining anything I put out the last two hours
I'm in too deep now
you mean remove it completely?
yes
that shouldn't be an issue
restart COMPLETELY
uninstall and reinstall
apparently it is for me because I tried already but it retained some memory of things I did before, like putting a main class for my code
no it was just java 1
great now I can't even redownload it
why don't you just use the installer instead of the runtime image
wait nvm I was able to download it, but look, it still remembers what I put before
how do I remove all possible memory from eclipse?
I just right click the eclipse shortcut and press the trash can
bruh (edit: I guess this was the best way)
okay press the search bar
for windows
and search for add or remove programs
if you can't find it find the Eclipse installer and uninstall that way
find the eclipse installer where?
in downloads?
how did you install Eclipse
from the website
didn't you download the installer?
I downloaded it from here
nope
wth why is it a pain to uninstall Eclipse lol
I swear I remember it being easier
What I did that seemed to work was Help > About Eclipse IDE > Installation Details select everything and press unistall
then delete the directory for folder under the eclipse folder where you stored your installation
then reinstall
btw
Since this post is temporary, can you actually dm me this stuff?
Sorry for the inconvenience
wdym its temporary. you can always create a new one if it gets shutdown for some reason
some of these posts are tens of hours old

for some reason when I try to put extract all here for eclipse, a download pops up, but I can't find eclipse
do you know where I should go?
search bar for windows > add or remove programs > uninstall Eclipse
it doesn't show up
even after I did this step, the file still shows up here
can you clarify here
download the installer
it will make things easier to manage
you can delete all you eclipse files if you are uninstalling. That's what the StackOverflow Post suggested
yea how do I do that
I wanna delete everything before I uninstall
just search for Eclipse in File Explorer
yea I have a feeling it's not supposed to look like this
if you installed it like the way you did that's what happens
it would be only one folder if you used the installer...
so what I do now? If I choose to extract all in the eclipse, nothing happens as far as I can tell
what are you even trying to do
even when I deleted everything the download files still show up. How do I remove every possible memory of eclipse
then move the zip to the trash bin
I want to make it so that when I download eclipse again, it'll be completely brand new
delete them??
I don't know how to get rid of those
no option shows up for that
when you click one
and then right click it you don't see delete anywhere or the trash bin icon?
can you move it to the desktop?
how do I do that
drag it to your desktop
I only see "open" and "open in new window"
it literally says open folder location
after I tried moving them to desktop, the option doesn't show up anymore
oh I meant to send just one image mb
click show more options
and then you can
nope doesn't show up
because you have both selected..
pick one you want to find the location of
you can't choose both to find
ok it sent me here, but only 2 of the eclipses are zip files
what do I do with the other one
just delete them all. isn't that what you were intending to do?
oh I feel like they're still going to be remembered :/
that's not possible if you install it the way I suggested.
no even if I did I still have the download from the other strategy I did from the guy's video (it was fairly similar to urs tho)
if you have anything downloaded that you don't want to then delete it. you keep saying these files exist like they are impossible to get rid of when there is literally a trash bin icon on the screenshot you just sent
none of this should be an issue.
delete the files regardless of zip or unzipped. download the installer and install your desired version and but done with it
I heard that you have to empty trash can or something
wtf what did I do wrong
how does it still remember that
omg it's because you never deleted your work-space folder lmao
it's not that big of a deal you an delete the projects in there and you're good
can you give directions for that because eclipse is confusing?
and I'm saying that lightly
do I search this up in downloads?
I legit have no idea where to go from here
go here in file explorer
when I search for it, it doesn't show up
did that didn't work
okay it showed me 4 files. I delete all of them?
I really hope so 🙏
tysm this was stressful af
prob going to be more stressful than the coding itself
lol yeah file explorer if you don't know how it works can be a bit of a pain
(ignore this message)
