It's not for everyone. Very wacky humor and can be a bit confusing on where to go, what to do a few times. But it's a 3D platformer with massive open worlds and a Zelda-like narrative quest structure with towns to visit, NPCs to talk to, and quests to complete.

It was really something else at the time and it's still quirky and unique enough where it still feels fresh playing it today. Like a low polyg modern indie game, lol.

I don’t think there’s a clear best for wireless controllers as all of them have a disadvantage in some way. Which makes things easy because there’s three really good options:

• NSO N64
• 8BitDo DIY
• Saffun

Thanks to the automatic value clamping that should be fixed. Before that was incorporated the brawler 64 had some large squarish range.

It’s really good and feels nice, not as nice as the NSO N64 but it’s such a minor difference. Mainly due to weight and button membrane.

The issues include the analog stick doesn’t rub up against the octagonal gate so you’re missing that tactile feedback from an original controller. The L R triggers have their hinge too far out so you can depress them on the innermost side. Lastly, it’s a full analog stick range which isn’t good at all but the automatic clamping fixes that.

I’ll need to recheck the included N64 adapter but last I checked it felt great on an original system so they were clamping it there which is good.

It’s also really low latency with the included 2.4ghz adapter.

That’s my only major complaint with the NSO N64 controller. The latency was noticeable to me and felt sluggish. Very playable though, I’m sure I would’ve gotten used to it.

But the constant Bluetooth repair made me get a Saffun. I’m too lazy to ditch my combo Bluetooth/wifi adapter lol.

First 50% seems slow then it rapidly accelerates towards the edges. Range is perfectly fine but that curve doesn't feel right.

yes, the n64 CPU has an instruction cache, a data cache, a 32 entry TLB and a 2 entry iTLB microcache. We will have about the same design. Only major difference is that in case of the iTLB microcache miss when the 32 entry TLB must be requested, it will take 16 cycles on average instead of 1. But i already measured how often that will happen with my emulator and it's so rare, it will not matter

The end of the intro on Paper Mario freezes the game, otherwise I've tried some battles and saved my game with just a bug on a wall (a black texture appears for a second) before going to the princess room.
