is this setting on the ini or on the update all script?
Update all script itself
Push up I think to enter the options
oh ok, thanks!]
Ok, it’s called “boom.rom” for me.
I’m also doing something unique where I have different folders for different regions, like Europe, Japan, and USA
ok, i'll delete the file and run the update all to see if it will download
I use different bios for different regions so in those folders it’s named cd_bios.rom
my saturn folder were empty, but i dont recall running the update all
the last time i installed the system
Yeah the bios needs to be in /media/fat/games/saturn
Same folder where you add your games
thanks Robby, later today i'll update my situation here
Hope you get it sorted!
or just RGB scart on their normal TV
I'm in the US. RF was still king when I bought my Saturn. 😄
😆Saturn was the first console I didn’t have to use RF with.
I used RF all the way through PS2. On my 13” Emerson TV.
Here in Europe the Saturn only came with a scart lead. If you wanted rf (why?????) you had to buy a separate dongle
Composite lead in the US. I didn't have composite on any of my TVs, so it went into the AV jacks on my VCR, which then converted it to RF. Just how it was.
RF ❤️
I was playing Lunar on the latest unstable dual ram core when the OSD just decided to pop up for no reason I could discern. Anyone have anything like that happen before? I am wondering if it is just the core acting up or if there is something going on with my M30.
If it only happened once I would ignore it. The core wouldn’t act up as it has no concept of anything that exists outside of it so it would either be you accidentally pressing it or the controller.
Thanks. That is what I was thinking. I was using it over 2.4g and I have definitely had issues using it with the analog dock before.
I have ZERO tolerance for ghost inputs on any joystick or input device. I would throw it in the trash bin if that happens even once in a lifetime
Yeah I have Zero Tolerance for the Sega MegaDrive too. Cool game!
Did you play Battle Monsters yet?
it's jank, but really creative jank
Speaking of: @burnt matrix - have you played Amok for the Saturn? As a game dev you might find it fascinating. It got talked about for its technical achievements with voxels at the time.
Oh yeah baybeee, one of the first games I put on my Saturn!
I love voxel technology.
That game is pretty fun too.
Has there been any activity from SRG. He kinda went dark about 20 days or so ago
And a fix for TurboGrafx16 last week
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/TurboGrafx16_MiSTer/commit/d1f1e1fe5902a8adf7b43988251f4dcde131ae14
Amok & Scorcher = Jesper Kyd music
I tried Scorcher but really didn’t like it. Should I try again?
Probably not, but the music is like a warehouse rave
Scorcher is another cool technical demo, but not a very enjoyable racer.
Impact Racing is a fun racing game / shooter hybrid that no one talks about.
If you like that artist, adventures of Batman and Robin on Mega Drive is amazing
Yeah that's another tech heavy game I don't find very fun
Great music, crazy graphical tricks, but kind of a slog
Is it correct 05/20 is the latest update ? thanks!
Yes, correct. 🍻
Helpful Robby is best Robby. Though instigator Robby is also a delightful scamp.
Great soundtracks. I really enjoy Amok (though I preferthe DOS version for the higher framerates)...good 'ol voxels.
Kyd also did Sub Terrania
Have the new updates changed anything om the 2.5 sdram situation yet?
no
there has been no new core for 3 weeks
yeah i guess srg is either working on something really tricky, or having a well deserved break 🙂
Are there still issues logged in the GutHub which are no longer issues ? (This was the case when I checked a few weeks ago.) Maybe he's waiting for those to be re-checked and closed.
didn't a bunch close with the latest core?
Unclosed bug reports on github have never been a problem, there are still a lot of confirmed and new bugs
Following on from conversation the other day about ram expansion carts, here are a list of games here that use either a 1MB or 4MB cart.
My understanding is that on original hardware if a game needs 1MB cart then it needs that cart, and it won't work with a 4MB one (why modern cards have a switch).
Has anyone done any testing in the core to see if you do need to have 1MB games set to that to run, or they run with 4MB set?
https://racketboy.com/retro/sega-saturn-games-that-use-1mb4mb-ram
For those of you that are interested, here are the Sega Saturn games that support my 1MB/4MB RAM carts. Most of these games require the RAM carts in order to play them. The ones that have (OPTIONAL) do not require the cart, but will have better performance with the cart 4MB RAM: Dungeons & Dragons …
i thought it was only a couple of games that glitch out if given 4mb instead of 1mb
i seem to vaguely recall metalslugs one of them
That is very likely the case, I haven't dug into this stuff on Saturn for many years
I don't recall many games having an issue with 4MB cart left inserted
I am not sure if a list of these problem games is out there
but its been a few years since I tested (my Saturn is boxed up)
Real Bout Fatal Fury - Everything seemed fine until I went to fight Blue Mary. Her dog in the fight intro was a jumbled mess. When I knocked Mary out of the stage boundary, she turned into a similar mess of pixels. Tons of Sokaku’s effects during fights are a mess. Overall it’s playable but there are some pretty distracting glitches.
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special - A few minor glitches that are on screen for less than a second during some screen transitions. Not really noticeable unless you’re looking for them.
Metal Slug - No graphical glitches that I noticed but it is very much slowed down. Metal Slug always had some slowdown, even on the MVS/AES versions but with the 4 MB cart it’s much worse. It’s a good port but if you’ve already paid for Metal Slug on the Saturn, get a real 1 MB cart to go with it.
Samurai Spirits 3 - Nothing seems off at all. The AI is absolutely brutal.
Samurai Spirits 4 - Pretty severe graphical glitches. Worse than Real Bout. I wouldn’t recommend trying to play this masterpiece without the 1 MB cart.```
Yea, I've never played any of those on Saturn outside Metal Slug. Must be why I don't remember any issues 🙃 Interesting to know about the slow down.
i do wonder if the core will have the same behaviors or not though
since possibly the important difference was in timings and not just size?
That would be interesting for someone to do some deep dive testing on
yea
If there are then maybe it makes sense to have an XML file that will set the ram based on the game, similar to how N64 core does. However it may not be an issue on the core, so needs investigation.
I've done that for several emulators years ago.
The list is internal for Medafen. Kronos and NOVA have an external list.
are there any games that require a memory card (as apposed to the internal memory)?
oh right ofc someones already worked this all out 🙂
Tamagotchi Park.
The card have an internal save that is set in factory, but we can recreate it since 2021 and some RE.
Does the core support saving for games that require memory card saving?
Not at the moment.
a database file like n64s might be good to add later if there's room
just for quality of life
Gimme a second.
I am wondering what could all be set with a database file. BIOS could be nice, so have a range of boot.rom files in the BIOS DB and have the correct one selected by the file instead of relying on unibios or having to set up subfolder ones yourself
The database that was done for the software emulators.
Detection with the internal header.
Interesting that Metal Slug is listed in 4MB instead of 1MB
SNK corrected some later games and they could work with either 1MB or 4MB.
Only some earlier releases from SNK have problems with the 4MB card.
So we decided to set it like that.
Do you use any database files to set anything else?
Nope.
There is a second database for emulators that could do SEGA TITAN/STV, but not possible with the core.
Do you just use unibios for everything?
From the about 500 releases that I've tested so far on the core, the sole troubles that I've encountered :
- Some European games can't boot with the Hi-Saturn 1.01 region free version, but could work with the 1.03 one (WarCraft II and Lemmings 3D);
- Die Hard Trilogy refuses to boot when using a region free BIOS, so I took the problem in reverse and patched the game header to accept all regions and revisions of a Saturn BIOS.
So does everything work fine with 1.03?
I can't stand for sure as nobody have tested all games so far on the core.
But on my current tests, everything that I've thrown so far to the core boots with a Hi-Saturn 1.03 region free BIOS (except Die Hard Trilogy that I've patched).
If we were to get one added to the BIOS DB then 1.03 seems to be the best option though?
Logically, but I won't take a decision and that will probably need to be discussed and tested thoroughly at a later time.
And you will have some people that want 'nostalgia' and only use a specific BIOS.
Some prefer the EU or USA sounds and animations on other more regular BIOS.
It would be good to get one added with the core now in Main, nothing stopping people using a different one or having sub folder ones
Yeah.
Seems to make sense to just get 1.03 added so it is dumped in root for anyone who hasn't added their own
Just a reminder that I've done my tests with a region free hacked version.
But the region ALL option on the core should work the same.
Lunch break is over, I gotta go.
I just hope that some of my replies could help you for some future decisions or some ideas for the future that could emerge.
I will redo some tests on Metal Slug later, just to be sure that we have the correct info.
If you were the remove all the fighting and shmups from the Saturn library how many games would you have left over? 4, maybe 6?
couple hundred I guess
Because a lot of side scrollers
dayyyyyytonnnnnnaaaaaaaaa
Ok that’s 1 out of the 6 games
as long as i can play Outrun and Powerdrift i am happy
Sega Rally
Damn we’re up to 5 games now.
clockwork Knight
rock paper scissors?
Bug! and Bug Too!
still more than n64!
JP library has a lot of games worth playing, even though many are arcade ports
Vatlava for the Saturn is pretty cool. It’s like a prototype Car Battler Joe.
It’s a deep cut reference inside of a deep cut reference. I am king nerd!
I've seen the slowdown on Metal Slug with the 4MB card.
So, the list was incorrect and we will need to change the value and only use the 1MB card further also on SW emus.
Ah, funny that one was missed. I will pin that post so people know which games should be set to 1MB
huh, always thought kof96 was rom as well
Some other games could support the 1MB/4MB cards but only as optional.
Like with Cotton 2/Boomerang.
Only KOF95 have a ROM, I can understand the misinterpretation and you're not the only one.
For KOF95 and Ultraman, I'm using hacked versions of those games with the data reinjected inside the ISOs.
So, I don't need to manage a separate file for launching them.
ah, my confusion stems from the double pack. Never notices it bein rom+ram cart
It's always been weird how there are all these cartridges that are meant to enhance games, but SEGA themselves have never used them in any of their games.
Those Capcom arcade ports would have been killer apps back then, though it may have been too late outside of Japan
Sega always has a lot of amazing ideas; really forward thinking stuff. The problem is that they never knew how to execute on a cohesive vision for it all. It always felt a little like they were throwing things against the wall to see what would stick.
I don’t know where I was going with that comment lol.
Dreamcast is a great example of letting artists run wild
Lots of Visions on that console
Fever dreams are also Visions
yep
There were rumors of a SEGA expansion cartridge in some shape or form during the years.. First I heard of it was for making a VF3 port possible. That may have actually been developed, but I’m unsure if it was ever confirmed in an interview..?
Much later similar rumors, or maybe more likely “made up retroactive mythology”, made the rounds of a similar expansion existing for Shenmue.
I’m unsure how a meaningful compute/graphics accelerator could work for Saturn, but who knows. More RAM is always nice of course.
what games have y'all been playing on the Saturn core?
Is that a manual process or an archived thing?
Manual process as far as I know.
YZB's 4MB hacks
Stuff people do is so cool. Genuinely impressed.
That was Sega and Lockheed
Lockheed had the contract for a “64 bit” (just what they called it. Not like it expanded the bus) expansion cart. Offshoot of Model hardware. But apparently it didn’t get much further than paper
Did that Saturn Shenmue version that surfaced not use any kind of RAM expansion?
Maybe it was just the footage that surfaced. 🤔
Just footage
Prototype has never been found. I’ve never heard any rumors of it being out there
Sega was basically casting a wide net. Lockheed with a Saturn expansion. 3DO for the M2. 3DFX for Black Belt. No surprise they went broke. So much R&D for no payoff
Well, don’t forget they were also bankrolling the jaguar as well
Still think it was a tad crazy that military hardware was used for gaming hardware (not entirely sure how but Lockheed is the only name I recall doing that)
I actually worked with the people who helped design Sega’s Model 2.
It was really GE and Martin Marietta
In the 90s simulation companies had the best tech for 3D
Late 80s early 90s
I worked with Bob Hichborn who sold the deal to Sega
Desert Tank was their game they made together
Namco
they had Evans and Sutherland build the 3D chipset for boards. They were a flight sim contractor to the government
they are still out there doing cool shit
If only we had gotten an Earnest Evans sequel on Saturn
That’s cool 😃 Most I ever did relating to arcade HW was interpreting for Sega guys who did F-Zero AX hardware configuration and programming (I think that’s what they did 😅)
hey man, ran the update_all and it download a lot of bios, but didnt downloaded the saturn one
i ran this script
got the neogeo one working tho
There isn't a Saturn BIOS in the DB currently, I think the High Saturn 1.03 should be added, as mentioned earlier everything seems to work with it
how it should be named?
on the folder?
also i'm only using 1 128mb ram module
Name your BIOS file boot.rom.
i keep getting a black screen, but thanks for the help
Anyone try these out?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Tank
Death Tank is a 1996 competitive multiplayer, 2D artillery game developed by Ezra Dreisbach of Lobotomy Software. Influenced by Scorched Earth, the gameplay is real-time instead of turn-based. It supports two to seven players, represented by differently-colored tanks, with a range of weapons. The terrain on which this occurs is heavily deformed ...
iykyk
Your problem is that your file is called boot.rom.bin. You can see this in the video you posted earlier. You have invisible file extensions
👏 Nice catch @mortal mist That’s a real easy miss unless you’ve got hidden extensions disabled.
Now I read , that this is not the problem. Even after loading the bios manually, there is still a black screen/
sorry for the confusion
Aww, thought someone figured it out 😅
Has anyone ever made a video of the Metal Slug slowdown? Some people claim they can't see it.
Metal slug needs the 1mb card, 4mb will give slow downs
Oh i've tried that and with the correct boot.rom file extension
Neither worked
Maybe my RAM module? Its v2.2
Well thats the issue then
They sold it as a 128mb
Its a new module, bought it last month, just got it tested now
Now i really see it has only one chip

Everything works fine tho
But the saturn one
Neo Geo MVS/AES 97 Yes Requires up to the 128MB module, depending on the game
Nintendo 64 (N64) 63 Yes Requires up to the 128MB module, depending on the game
Oh thanks
I'll buy another one soon!
Ok
You just remind me! I made a Quake save, and I'm going to rename it for Duke3d to get it to show up. Saves shooting toilets. 😄
I think that soon we will get a fix for sdram 2.5 🙂
core posted by srg320 on github for testing https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/33#issuecomment-2160567461 , https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/37#issuecomment-2160565531
USA version. Music plays when the game starts but disappears soon. Otherwise the game works just fine. Tested with v2.5 128MB ram (stable at 140 MHz). Still works fine on some setups with same kind...
Sorry for the late reply, I don't feel well today (and probably will need to stay some time at home or the hospital).
I could illustrate partially with that video though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIDOYplGwmE
From my part, I noticed some differences between the cards with loading times and certain animations which render 1 frame out of two what is needed on heavy scenes.
Today, I'm havving a look at playing Metal Slug on Saturn with the three main types of RAM cart that are available, just to find out if the Slowdown of Metal Slug is any different depending on the cart used.
Jump to 10:50 for direct screen comparisons
I leave the next core (re)tests to kuba and the others, good luck.
I upgraded my RAM so I can't test it now!!! I hope this works for those on the older versions.
2.5ram fix is in guys!!! 🎉
probably still worth people with newer ram checking it for regressions
Very nice!
i’m hoping this solves the Grandia flickering issue I have
Won’t be able to to test for about four hours
Works fine here 2.9
very cool
It is strongly advised not to buy MiSTer add ons, especially ram, from untrusted sellers and especially not from Ali Express. You really don't know what you are getting.
So the new build just completely overhauled how the RAM works?
hard to tell, there’s not enough details been shared
#1046941029296779344 message
Fun stuff
Is it Saturnday!? It's Saturnday isn't it!?

for people on the Mister Multisystem (MMS), i just installed the updated ram model (2.9v). i’ve seen all games working on the core more consistently. It’s expensive to add, and cutting out the old ram module is annoying without real tools (i didn’t have a dremel tool so i had to saw it out with a small serrated blade), but once installed everything worked perfectly
oooh ram fixes on the core? Paging Mr. @gloomy hedge , this build might be worth a test - #1046941029296779344 message
Seems like this works for me on MMS, and I ordered a new ram board yesterday, so I guess you're all welcome 😂
people made purchases to hit a moving target
Can anybody test this on the Saturn core ?
https://x.com/TZMWXdiyer/status/1800170935145898397
"Today TPU has made a test version of the Index firmware for the PQ channel of the CD audio track for SAROO.
Does your Sega Saturn ODE support this function?
How to test?
Run Taito Chase HQ + SCI (Japan), enter OPTION, select MC, and adjust 00-40.
Normal situation: Select 06, 10, there should be only one sentence of male voice for one second
If it is a female voice, or other sounds longer than 1 second, it means that Index is not supported."
Simple test, I could help. Works on the core with a BIN/CUE dump.
So it's working correctly ?
Yep, it works fine on the Saturn core. On the Saroo though it has some regressions with other games.
Oh interesting, Saturn core more accurate than hardware ODE
It's still WIP on real hardware via Saroo. I guess it will be fixed soon.
Oh interesting. Saturn core the official core endorsed by Tenacious D.
It’s not the greatest core in the world. It’s just a tribute
But I need muh lightgun support!
Cheats!
and ナビ support
that would be hilarious
“I don’t have carplay, I just use my sega saturn core for maps”
Amazing if we are getting closer to a stable and feature filled build now, hopefully there is a bit of space left for things like cheats.
winners don't use drugs
“you don’t understand, with the power of my crt and MiSTer saturn core i get ZERO frames of lag with my satnav”
the usual things like cd speed would be nice
“are you tired of your navigation system telling you to turn after you pass the road…”
What features are missing at this stage that seems like they could be doable?
Cheats
SNAC light gun support
Virtual mouse light gun support
Anything else?
I am serious about netlink…that would be amazing
I never assembled my dreampi to get my actual saturn online
then @naive whale could do a video about how bad @burnt matrix is at Sega Rally 😉
It's interesting that Saroo seems able to speed loadtimes up so much
Wonder how fast data can be sent to the core
it’s no small task,
you have somehow fit a recreation of, at least the bare net link adapter functions, into the FPGA, and pipe the modulated game data out the snac port into a rpi or mt-32 pi like solution
that’s gonna likely require a next generation fpga
it might be possible to cheat a little, much like the dreampi itself, but that is beyond my paygrade.
there’s possibly something cooking on the Shiro! discord, one of the great hackers wants to find a way to bypass the netlink altogether
don’t technically need the modem, just the registers in the cart responding correctly, so I imagine it something more akin to the IDE implementation…can pass the data to the arm side to transmit and receive
but, once again, I am making it sound super easy and simple, which it very much isn’t
just a few wires put between saturn and a pigeon
even an RFC that will tell you how to implement it! https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc2549
This memo amends RFC 1149, "A Standard for the Transmission of IP Datagrams on Avian Carriers", with Quality of Service information. This is an experimental, not recommended standard. This memo defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet community.
should be easy enough for the world's biggest saturn fan (Robby) to do
problem with that down here in Texas is those pigeons don’t tend to make it far with all those ranchers and their .22s
I’m so good at this game, don’t be jealous
I am king Sega rally
@analog totem was my evil mister summoned to produce evil results ?
Also pshhhhh come on, where's the proof Robert, lemme see 1st place + 1st place
new core build that supposedly fixes bad boy ram
I'm here with 3.00 gangsta ram ready to chew up a Saturn core and spit it out
Actually so uh guys I have bad news
the weapons on this game were great
Because the 486 core has been so interesting, I downloaded all the DOS games and I ran out of space so I just deleted all my Saturn games off my mister since I wasn't using them
put one problematic game back on and try it for science
thanks for linking this. It is the first Saturn core that runs Cotton 2 properly. Music and Sound both play fine and the demo loop no longer crashes
I am using a v2.5 ram module
Dang it Aktane! You're our crash test dummy! We need you to suffer for science!
Some of those games have really good artwork
I am a humble and respectful person. I don't want to shame everyone else.
On Aliexpress You can buy it from @steel salmon , I have 3 misters of it and I've never had any problems with the Saturn core, Or other cores.
Your game is my command
I am going to test the linked build from earlier
at some point today, I never had issues with games though
so at least it'll provide some baseline
Will do sometime soon but I'm unfortunately away at work today and tomorrow
But you have my word
Cotton 2 will probably be my test
That's sad to hear, well, hopefully someday it will get fixed.
still using 2.4 😩
then this is for you too
USB support for specific peripheral emulation like the mission stick and sega arcade racer wheel?
will have to wait until after i move to try it, but thats exciting! just caught up on the rest of the thread and saw some other 2.4 users said it works 🎉
indeed it does
If core doesn't support those, then those seem like doable nice to haves
Speaking of sega rally https://x.com/PandaMoniumGR/status/1799565695908274525
I reference this IETF RFC often, to drive home the point that the medium for distributed messaging between programs/computers can be Anything, depending on your applications’ tolerance for latency
just want to report saturn finally works with my old ass 32MB RAM
so having 3.0 ram should be good for Saturn correct? i just looked up what memory i had cause i couldn't remember
yeah for sure, you were fine before, todays changes are for much older ram
I bet it works even with that super crappy 4-chip version now 🤣
That’s stretching it too much lol
kinda surprised to hear it works on single-chip 32mb boards now actually now i think about it
Wut is that true?
maybe it doesn't use complex interleaving
I thought it was a troll
@sage minnow just said so ... yeah i guess idk if that was a joke or not
pretty obscure joke if so
ok, i'll try that
WTF 😱
sometimes updates are like magic
Readme needs update then
uhh i load Sega Rally and it says Drive door open
i got the non-barn mister case
Probably would be smart to wait till the updates go into the update_all script to avoid potential confusion.
what size ram does the ps1 require again btw
32mb I believe
i use PS1 with no problem
sometimes you gotta hit reset
only thing i can't play is some Neo Geo and some N64
Neo Geo is one of the reasons i was interested in mister so i absolutely wanted to get the best ram when building it lol
not working, i'll try another image
We had issues early on where people seemed to get better results from the RAM modules after cleaning them thoroughly with iso
Like flux residue may have been a factor?
It was a mystery
cosmic radiation flipped a bit
matching the planetary orbit of the actual Saturn
I can also report that build is good with my 2.5 ram. Sega rally, cotton 2, vampire savior, etc. Amazing. I believed srg can fix. Thank you 🎉
this is what the game normally looks like right
Yep! You need 128MB lol
outrun works normally, that's all i care about
there’s a bunch of 2.5 ram modules floating around eBay for cheap now, as people are selling them after upgrading to the 3.0 probably for the Sega Sutton core
fools!
now there all for the taking
Finally I can stop asking people what ram module they are using in comments haha
This is today's build right? #1046941029296779344 message
hopefully you won't have to ask them which mister board they're using in comments!
I still had issues with Sega Rally, but then realized that I was probably using a non-Redump version. Swapped to that and it worked quite well. Even managed to finish, even if I didn't place first.
2.5 RAM.
Depends, who's asking?
Joe
Oh, is this build a little easier on the RAM modules, and plays nicely with the older ones (2.5) ?
You friend Bug! is asking! He really wants to know.
Yes that’s the latest! I love bug!!
Ok I’m playing with the new Ram build. Any games I should look at.
I never had ram issues so this is likely just me confirming stuff is still wonky or still works.
Do I really need to tell you to test Bug!?
Ok I will test Bug
Huzzah!
🎶🎷🐛
That bug is saxy.
As far as games that historically gave people trouble, Sega Rally and Cotton 2 seem to come up a lot.
DOA would randomly freeze on my early ram
Sega Rally running like a champ
I freaking fell in Bug lol
Ok I made it to Raidou without losing a single match in DoA and he worked me over lol
I was ruining everyone’s day as Jann Lee
No crashes, just two spots where the action slowed down but it never lasted longer than a second
Ok o destroyed him on the rematch
I love that you die at the end lmao
Itagaki: Thanks for inputting your initials, get fukkd
Cotton 2 shows you a lady in a thong for beating a level wtf lol
Also it screams at you when you start the game
Ok I got to the third stage and realized I could turn on auto core. This game is three times better now.
No issues that I can tell.
Do both BUG games not have shadows under the characters?
Bug 1 does not have shadows but Bug Too does
She’s a fairy. All fairies wear skimpy stuff 🤷♂️
I have 2.9 ram but i m very happy for 2.5 owner if srg320 finally fix the issue with this version of ram!

Watching this, good stuff.
Letting radient silvergun run on the new core to see if it's still randomly stalling during attract mode.
this is the saturn page
we watch Pandemonium reviews while doing our soak tests thankyouverymuch
worked ok for 2h, at least for me 🙂
People denying progress and despising dual ram builds while gladly replacing their single ram whenever a new rev came out 😥
I mean the characters are named after panty materials. It’s very..japanese?
the calls coming from the
department
Same! I recently got my snac adapter and lightgun...patiently waiting for the update
They are? LOL I didn’t know.
Does Bug really classify as a 3D platformer? lol
Actually TBH I didn’t realize this on my own. Sentient mentioned it a couple years ago and I was surprised I hadn’t noticed the pervy reference
Why are there so many pervy games for Saturn
2.5D ?
I was being silly, haha. But I guess yeah it would be 2.5D for the most part,
SEGA policies were more loose when it came to sexual content, which is why the SEGA Saturn had several 18+ games on there.
This was before CERO even existed in Japan, so there was no universal limit on what you could put on a system. Different console manufacturers had different standards as a result.
I appreciate the educated and insightful answer.
But at the same time I gave a perfect lay-up to dunk on Saturn fans. Now I’m left with the truth instead of hilarious fiction.
With the Saturn core, people are realizing that the console ruled and just got shafted in the west
Something known by brave souls who have been playing the JP library since early days
Robby's dunks turn into bricks

I never liked the Saturn much on launch and having the core hasnt changed my opinion much but its a very decent way to explore the library now. I can also play the Sega super scaler arcade ports which is the best thing on it
Oh cool what are you covering?
better ram / testing diff games / your momma
you just wait to see how I masterminded the greatest joke Ive ever told against you!
fat baby dinos?
they called @burnt matrix Baby D in HS and college but it didnt stand for Dino
Goddamnit, I got destroyed in #1096015979055697940, not here too lol
Im getting run out of so many chats, I’m going to have to slum it in #1052057593654284329 with the nerds
Straight to the MARS channel with you!
The Vapourware channel ??
MARS is as real as @burnt matrix dignity!
Poor guy
Someone call an ambulance, those are some serious burns
Did the Saturn core get updated?
not since May 20th
there's a test build posted in this GitHub issue
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/33#issuecomment-2160567461
OMG RAM FIXES!?!?!
what a hidden gem omg thank you
I don't follow the chat closely so it's easy to miss
Could anyone link me the latest core please?
Thanks in advance 😃
Well I'll be sure to install it if it ever gets a proper release in unstable
Ok ok geez I'm home from work haha
Is that the correct above?
I'll try 💪🏽 right now
what date is that rbf?
just so I keep shit organized
it be all like SATURN RBF
I'm just calling it June 12th
This core is Justin Wong and my Mister is Daigo
doing an update all and then y'all will see
COTTON 2 TEST:
my mister has never played this game without failing
next - blast wind
some sound glitches at the beginning that werent on a real saturn]
nothing big
blast wind music started too late
but
no sound glitches!
seems totally fixed to me I'd give this a 9/10
Blast Wind Test: 🤘🏾
yeah so there is one weird audio static and then the music consistently starts late
not an ideal scenario, but playable and much better
Next - sega rally
1st place on championship
extra stage
damnit second on lake side
did not unlock the stratos
sega rally seems to be working just fine 10/10
some graphical stuff that feels a little odd compared to my saturn but I thin kthe retrotink is covering that shit up
😦
I suck
robby rules
layer section 2 next but honestly
it seems this core is legit
ok no you can’t do that, because now I feel bad and have to admit I’m joking and you’re better at this game than me
Stop using cheat codes against me
I’m so lazy I’m using wget over ssh from my iPhone to update
does anyone know where i could fine the latest saturn test build (srg320) that fixes the v2.5 ram issue?
As long as it works
@soft quarry
Thank you so much..
Radiant Silvergun seems to not lock up for me now
this core gets a huge thumbs up from me
I havent found a single issue
but I havent tested many games
so far I'd give it a proper : #1046941029296779344 message
are there any github issues that have been fixed by this core
I'll have my buddy with is old as fuck original mister give this a shot
extremely well done to SRG and the team
amazing shit
core is dope af, now I have to decide if I regret getting a fenrir satrun with a retro tink let me think about that
|| no ||
but im super happy about this core
awesome job
it doesnt need to be perfect but even if it plays like 85% of these games and many of these shmups that literally have no way of playing them without input lag
it is absolutely massive
Now to try Thunderforce V
hell yeah man, great to hear that mostly fixed your issues
I wonder what current compatibility is
for these handful it fixed ALL of my issues and introduced 2 small regressions in blast wind that are fixable I am sure
but yeah tell all your friends, core wins, robby wins, aktane's mister wins
the only loser is aktane himself
He looks like he's wearing a dead skin mask
until I beat sega rally properly 😦 damn lakeside
Well if this version works flawlessly on @gloomy hedge ‘s setup then it’s really a bulletproof release
someone ring the bell
Does TFV have slowdown on real hardware? Only played it on PS1 before.
I recall it having quite a lot on my saturn but its been a while, get at me another day and I'll test it for you
also sorry @burnt matrix this is supposed to go in SHARE MEDIA
my finger slipped tho
oops
What are the games? Some I don’t recognize.
Really cool compilation, thank you for sharing !
o my bad in order: Cotton 2, Blast Wind, Sega Rally, Layer Section 2 AKA RayStorm, SoukyuGurentai aka Terra Diver
Had the same results as @gloomy hedge on my mms, cotton 2, sega rally, music in nights, all worked, never worked before. Big thumbs up.
Saturn start up sound intensifies
You see the beauty of the JP library
Back then the CPS arcade ports were also a huge win
Still worth playing for the extras
Zero 3 is so good
Ah yes the Japanese Saturn library is so good thanks to gems like, * checks notes *, Jungle Park: Saturn Island?
How come no one talks about the hidden gem Digital Dance Mix Vol. 1? It’s made by AM2! 🤯
It was big in Japan at the time cuz one of the biggest pop stars in the country was the star of it. But outside Japan it didn’t matter 🤪
Why do you know about this game
Well, Namie Amuro was arguably the biggest pop star in Japan at the time and being into games and her music, I noticed it when it came out. But I’m not really into rhythm games so I never played it.
Oh wow... Namie Amuro. Every song sounds the same.
The first song was fresh and new at the time... but wow, repetition

Ayeee
is it actually a rhythm game or just a tech demo with some minigames (that aren't rhythm games)
looking at youtoobs the main is just watching her 3d model perform to the music without any play

Most artists tend to sound similar throughout their careers. Do tell, what was her first song?
Hmm, I'd have to look it up. But I heard it back in 1997
It would have been much before that. But anyway, Saturn~
Not much. The album I got at the time was Sweet 19 Blues (1996)

Her first solo album yes, but not her first time being popular as a singer.
Looks like 1995's "Body Feels Exit" was probably what I had heard
Of course, I only know her as solo
But on the strength of the first album, I bought others, and... deja vu
Even worse than Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" being repeated. At least that was the same song over and over, but Namie's stuff was supposedly differnet songs that sounded identical.
Oh well, that's my story. I'll stop now.
You don’t have a good ear for music if you think everything she made over 25 years sounds identical. 🤷♂️
Hahah, I gave up after the first 7 or so.
But it’s just an opinion.
The fact that she's still popular means somebody doesn't mind.
Lots of people here.
Besides, whatever music you’re into might suck just as much 😘
hahah
Nah, I liked most J-Pop, and indeed her first album.
Just.. samey samey
Nothing wrong with it, except lacking originality. that's all. Nothing else wrong
99% of what any group or singer makes could have that said of it as well. It’s all about if you like what they do or not.
I dunno. I WANTED to like it. I don't think other groups have anywhere near that degree of same-ness. That's the only reason it stood out to me.
I need to do a video on that
True story it was derived from a test for 3DO M2
Sega had one and only one demo worked up for M2 when they were considering buying the hardware and it’s that “game”
Find me a Beatles fan that likes Helter Skelter compared to their normal songs. It’s too different. Hence the Beatles sound samey as well. 🍻
I’d watch that. I don’t actually know the game.
Only seen pics
Uhhh... maybe the "meet the Beatles" album. But not later than that
Listen, I just thought it was humorous - I didn't mean to step on your sacred beliefs
I’ve got a copy round here somewhwre
Ain’t sacred, just funny.
You’re like Gus from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. "Give Me A retro game ... And I'll Show You That The origin Of That game Is from the 3DO.
humourous as in, it was genuinely humourous to me - not like I was creating ajoke
Lol well how bout this
The one game Panasonic wondertainment was working on for M2 that ended up moving to Dreamcast
I can’t find the digital dance mix disc. Dunno where I put it
I don’t know what that is but that’s pretty cool
Janky fmv game
Panasonic wondertainment was the gaming division of what was the M2 for Matsushita
Ohhhh
the cursed misters curse was finally lifted
I know, I got ya. It’s just funny cuz the argument against her is literally the reason that people want more of the same in sequels. If it’s too different, people complain. You just don’t care for her and that’s fine.
No one likes the JP Super Mario 2 cuz it’s punishment. But 3 was a god send.
Anyway
I have no problem with similar music in the same vein, or a consistent "style", and obviously I know that's why people like a given artist. But I was just marvelling at how little variance there was. Like "Ryzeen" by O.M.Y is different from "Rydeen" by Y.M.O by the smallest of amounts because it's a parody... but it seems a lot more different than Namie's stuff.
@gloomy hedge Could you put your feedback here for srg320? https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/33#issuecomment-2160567461
Super cool that the new core works even on @gloomy hedge’s cursed MiSTer! 🎉
So, it sounds like the improvements apply to setups using not just 2.5, but version 2.4 RAM as well?
yes 2.4/2.5
Excellent stuff. I have yet to try the core out because I wanted to wait until it's in a state similar to the PS1, uh, one.
sorry for being a newb - but is this the most recent build? --> https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/33
D'oh, seems like this port is not good
Music is still a trip though
Can someone give me config file for saturn core? I'm trying to fix an issue and I don't have one.
It gets auto generated when you load the core
I guess I just fixed my problem which bothered me for like 4 days
I there any reason why mister reboots when I try run saturn core with ethernet cable connected?
Does it reboot straight away? Doesn't even get to BIOS screen?
Yep
I guess it's a power issue
And does the core boot when the ethernet cable is unplugged?
Yep
Does any other core boot with the ethernet cable plugged in?
Yep, I tried a bunch and everything worked fine. Even PSX which, I suppose, similar to power usage.
Yeah, I'm kinda mad rn at myself for not figuring it out earlier and this beign a thing at all.
What power plug are you using?
thats probably the weirdest thing i've ever heard of anyones mister doing
None tbh. Mister is plugged to my monitor which use powered by pc. I didn't thought it'll work, but I does.
I can try to use power supply from steam deck. I used it before.
it's just being backpowered by the hdmi? don't do that it's not meant to work
no, usb
oh ok, that' slightly better but still probably not enough power
Funny thing, I used proper power supply, but one day I confused two cables and plugged mister with one coming from monitor. It worked fine, so I stayed with it.
Want me to try it with ethernet cable and power supply? Just to see if it changes anything.
Yeah do it
K, 10 mins. Loading games back to mister rn.
https://misterfpga.co.uk/product/mister-fpga-power-supply/ I use this one with a splitter to power the MiSTer and the USB board
My mister is from retrocastle and for some reason they say in caps that it have to be powered from type-c port ONLY. So I do like they said.
And I tried to find PSU for mister, but couldn't find anything good in my country
Which feedback exactly? (I think Kuba has this covered?)
Interesting, I not used a retrocastle build, my setup uses all official boards and RAM
So is the power cable USB-C - USB-A?
I don't know what's usb-c - usb-a 🤔
Any 5v 3 amps (15 watts) psu with USB C should be fine for power. Most monitor ports are probably 1 Amp. I picked up a 3rd party Steam deck charger for mine
Yeah, I'm considering buying one after all. Especially if this'll be the reason for my saturn problems.
Something like this should work
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71dZc0aorBL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_FMwebp_.jpg
Just make sure you see 5V⎓3A listed on the output of whatever one you want
I'm using one similar with MisterAddons new analog IO pro board
Got it, ty.
Ok, I tried it with proper power supply and saturn core loaded fine even with ethernet cable plugged in. So I guess it was a power issue.
I suppose, but so far srg320's only response is one second-hand comment in 2 days 🙂
Oh do you just want me to type that it worked? I gotcha
What is the latest Saturn core with SNAC support included? If anyone had I link that would be great, thanks.
Done
all saturn cores have snac support these days
In the settings I can not select SNAC though?
It’s a controller option
Cycle through it
It says "Digital, 3D Pad" et.c
No, where do I download that?
I’m sure I’m not the first to ask but the latest core is not in unstable nightlies?
It’s in the pins - #1046941029296779344 message
It says I don't have access to it
Fixed your role, try again please
good call. I need to shoot an overview today and I was wondering what power adapter Id use for it
can you just do that to people Robby 😳
There was an experimental build posted on GitHub a couple days ago, but I’d stick to the latest unstable unless you have old incompatible ram.
and dont tell people its an exciting update on YT...they yell at you 🤣 fuck me for being excited more people get a compatible Saturn core...plebs with 2.5V should suffer apparently!
Yeah, you’re now a challenge champion, congrats
well you were lol
Thanks, I downloaded 20th of May (unstable), I'll try it later. Any idea when SNAC support will arrive on the official core?
It’s there
yeah i was going to say that seems insulting to people who put actual work in 😄
Full SNAC integration is not complete though.
yeah its digital pads only for the mo
Like this?
Ok, I will try it then, thank you.
Admittedly, unless you already have the prerequisite hardware, I wouldn’t bother with SNAC.
People already tested it and gave feedback. SNAC development is also further along than the latest unstable so you wouldn’t be helping. It’s just if you want to try it but since its digital only there’s no actual benefit over USB.
I have a digital controller 🙂
I wonder if its possible to use the RF controller adapter with only 1 port plugged in...
i mean, were there any good RF controllers before the wavebird?
I think I mean IR
ir stuff was always terrible
Yeah my Dreamcast IR gun is so bad
like I used up all my credits to finish House of the Dead 2's first stage
and had like 2 hearts left
does it double as an IR remote? thats neat
guess I'll have to test it out
hard to tell. It depends on how it's wired and how much power it needs
yea, I assume to help with VCD funtionality
tv on/off kind of implies it can control your tv too
yea probably
unless SEGA tvs were made
some IR remotes will literally do that
Too convoluted for typical users
fire off a bunch of signals until one hits
that kind of IR remote was pretty common in the 90s
you could get calculator watches that could do it
but who knows maybe universal remotes were pretty common/easy to pulloff/cheap enough
i wanted that watch so much
we had a kid who got one and would fuck with the TVs during calss
retro as fuck
this was my silly watch I got given as a kid. I liked Taz but was not into trains or pocketwatches lol
oh yeah pocket watches were a thing (for the rich kids at my school)
wonder if there's a cool modern alternative for it that's not a cellphone
not putting a band on your applewatch?
I remember you could do that with the moto360, someone made a chain for it
I need a pocketwatch for my densha de go controllers lol
i need to snag one still
kinda kicking myself on skipping that DC one I saw in TN last year
have you played enough of the various versions to say whats the 'best' one to go for? or have they just sat on shelves? lol
I'd say a Seiko railway/rail road pocket watch would be the most authentic for Densha De Go
My watch is a wandering hour
I mean...
Sega Saturn core is good 👍🏽
Something something Bulk Slash
And then something something three dirty dwarves
lol I mean densha controller
My buddy with the really old mister and like I dunno 0.1 ram or whatever
Another win
Oh yeah also he's using a CRT
Trinitron
Welcome to the working Saturn MiSTer core family Aktane! We have been waiting for you to join us! 🫂
This is gonna be a bit tangential but here we go: as some of you may know I'm from western Germany which used to be divided by a wall from eastern Germany. The Saturn core finally working for everybody feels even better than when that damn wall came down. 😭
I’ve been informed by one commenter the new core is not a big update at all and who cares. @gloomy hedge you should be personally offended lol
Damn how can you not be delighted by feats of engineering even if it doesn’t directly benefit you?
@gloomy hedge you love to see it. Thank you for sharing that with us.
omg 🤣
All Saturn lovers are finally united!
All three of them!
🔥
🔥
Damn he got us
We are on the right side of history. PSX was just a really big library with a lot of hits and beloved by fans and uh hmm where was I going
Saturn had VF games that’s all I cared about. Checkmate
Saturn had racy games for pervs like Robby
Double checkmate
imma need a list of the racy games so I know what to avoid.....
Hmm, I thought I posted a sega retro link a while back. Maybe Robby removed it so he could bogart all the games for himself.
The music is so strange and upbeat
It's like you are swimming through bullet patterns
Dead or Alive fits all needs
Plays real gud also
Just point my blade
I keep thinking it must be a full moon because theres been a lot of whining lately haha
Yeah they are getting ready to morph into baby marmosets
You play Gekirindan much for F3? I imagine it runs a lot better than the Saturn port, especially the music
not a ton actually
If you can ever capture a couple levels, would be curious
Doesn't seem as mean as some shooties I could mention
Oops sorry that was me
BANNED lol
i was thinking bout you earlier when I was capturing Blast Winds
Psh your blast wind gameplay is weak
Shoulda used mine
$5
Coulda had it all
Joking aside it is fucky yeah
Weird static before the intro (new regression)
And music starting HELLA late
Other than that it aight
Translation?
Whatever you're doing make sure to use boosted music hack
it got a full dub mod this week
boosted music, full english dub
Blast Wind is a vertical shoot 'em up for the Sega Saturn which was released exclusively in Japan during 1997 by Tecnosoft. It tells the tale of a post-apocalyptic earth where humanity must rely on two ancient super warriors to defeat GORN's...
I mean my mister
Anyone has had problems with Die Hard Arcade on hdmi? The image keeps cutting between scenes. Tried using vsync_adjust=0 instead of 2 but still the same. Seems to be caused by the resolution changes on the cutscenes. Maybe my monitor is the problem?
That game gives even my CRT issues. With real hardware too! Too many resolution switches.
(sorry for thread necromancing but ) So just to put a counter on that, i got a saturn in europe. And.....ignorance is bliss and all that (and well i feel some games got decently adapted as well ofc) with pal stuff but. I still loved my saturn! I mainly wanted it for the capcom games as i played sf2 on my snes every way i could think of, all difficulties, all characters, time limit off and on, even starting as player 2! vf2 looked sweet too, so i think i got that and sega rally, and shortly followed by.......probably darkstalkers or sfa2. men cota as well. And then kof95. Also got need for speed, puzzle bobble. Guardian heroes, gun griffon, virtual on. Heck it was not fifa but even enjoyed sega world wide soccer! And even then i still played my snes and amiga, and also got into pc gaming so yeah enough to play but really REALLY enjoyed my saturn. I was aware of the jap stuff, but just not how to import :S So indeed sad i missed, all the snk stuff. the 1 and 4mb cartridge capcom games (also marvel super heroes was still fun, just a bit slow and a dolt of a cpu in single player...which was hard to believe after being slaughtered by magneto in xmen cota :S but again enough games to play. So yeah saturn sucks eh? 😂 oh and not unimportant, my sega rally sound issues with the core are also solved! 2.5 ram user here.
Thanks, but in my case it also cuts between cutscene transitions, I dont think I have even finished the first stage because of the frequent cuts. I will have to take the crt out of storage for this game.
maybe change the MiSTer ini file to buffer the picture more?
Tried already, vsync_adjust=0 instead of 2 but still cuts frequently.
Is it know that some games will simply not boot and you'll be bounced back to the Saturn dash?
Using all the same CHD set
Maybe related to region-free BIOS?
Dead or Alive is a good game for checking out Saturn weirdness
Fun to play also
Saturn kicks high
So bounce
BTW a certain title runs on the core
And that is...
Techno Motor
For anyone out there who likes making beats, it's pretty fun
Menus are extensive
You can use 2 controllers to control different audio parts over a backing track
https://segaretro.org/images/3/33/TechnoMotor_Saturn_JP_Flyer.pdf
Check out that grip technique
Now I'm wondering if I can sync MiSTer with this actual Saturn I have with MIDI interface and k/b
How cool would that be
Live piano on top of the Techno Motor output
Could just play it live if I had any piano skills
😍 🤓
Back of the case detail for anyone who reads this stuff
I’ve gotten that randomly when switching games. If I reset the core, the game usually loads up. Seems random.
I really do wish the serial to midi pinouts were reversed engineered
Sega Rally fans might dig this. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2824660/?snr=1_5_9__205

I tried the demo for it a few days ago. They definitely nailed the aesthetic, though the control/handling feels like it needs work. Still a promising start!
I hadn't played it yet but it's super obvious they were thinking of Sega Rally a little
Okay, having played it, it needs some work. It feels rough and it super needs some music but I do appreciate what they're trying to do.
Do you know if the creator is ok with changing the silkscreen on this adapter or maybe there are restrictions?
Old School Rally looks more like old Colin McRae tbh, Over Jump Rally is probably going to be the closest thing to a modern take on Sega Rally
you should ask @tall agate that question
I sent him an e-mail.
Do you know if the guy who made all the other SNAC adapters (NES, SNES, N64 et.c) is here as well?
i think so, but i dunno what his discord name is
Ok, maybe someone who read this will know. Thanks for the help btw.
I’ve got a feeling that srg320 will make this the next “official” release. Not sure why, just a feeling I have
My guess it that the next commits will push up the relevant source changes, as well as a new rbf
Radiant S. runs so naisu on my newer MiSTer
Forgot how genius it is the way Treasure lets you save weapon progress
And I like trying to use a single weapon and get as far as possible
Power it up
Plus the dogs collection in options
Sadly have that issue for example with shining holy arm (usa) and a few others.
In this case it simply sais that the cd lit is still open.
I had luck last night with choosing "reset" in the core menu. The same game image stays attached and then it loads on the second time
Just tryied it. Sadly doesnt work in my case. But will try different roms of that game now and see if that helps
Success. A different rom did it 🙂
so i know 2 regular controllers is out of the question for saturn snac, but is there any chance of 2 lightguns? do they use any less pins
That’s a very good question.
It’s a button, trigger and a light sensor. I feel like it would be 4 pins max? I would imagine it would have to be its own version of SNAC for dual Saturn light guns though.
I’m sure it’s been asked but is using a multi tap not possible like it is with PSX?
Saturn lightguns also needs a bunch of pins each
Not sure if they work via multitap, never tested.
so keen to use my Virtua Gun with the core, although yeah I've only got the one
yeah, sucks that saturn used a lot of pins
wish they only had 3 pins like n64 lol
i do lowkey wish Taki's clone board added more pins
or another user port since his board has the 12v power difference. Might as well make improvements
So the DE10 uses 5v but the clone uses 12v?
At least there's a price drop and new usb and vga would allegedly be less than $20 each
The clone can use 12V or 5V but if you use 12V it has its own 5v 6amp rail to power the USB hub board
So then should any USB hub work well with the clone board?
It comes with a 12v brick
It's a weird choice if it's 5v-12v
So dumb users can ruin usb boards due to traditional split dc power input
So when FalafellGB said its own 5v6amp to power the USB hub, what does that mean then?
Although taki claims, there's a 5v output to the usb board and claims leave the jank to the de10
Probably awbacon's video is outdated
Probably a taki hater /s
But wouldn't be surprised if the 5v header is only for their boards
Now if it had 2 user ports to fix saturn's 2p issue, i might buy it
it's just a 5v header on the board. anyone can design a usb board to power off of it. I assume someone smart will come up with a design you can use on either the clone or a 'real' de10, although there's still the whole "don't accidentally plug in the included 12v PS into your 5v usb hub' thing
said smart designers would probably also be smart to try and integrate overvoltage protection into any dual-use board
i’m wondering if it’ll even be compatible with an itx-style add on board
actually that should be completely fine, power only comes into those via the io-board
so the de10 or clone only gets its power thru the gpio pins
He will be selling IO and USB hub boards to go with the clone board anyway and he said these will cheap. He is using the new 9.2 IO design too
There is not enough spare GPIO lines, Similar issue with MD SNAC
Just use USB or wireless
slight correction, MiSTer currently doesn’t use enough gpio lines for full snac, some are used for things like the secondary sdcard
who knows, in the future maybe priorities will change
But SNAC was not designed for standard controllers anyway
what was it designed for?
non standard like Lightguns and the user port also used for MT32-pi and even IEC on the C64 core
secondary sdcard pins are now used for 24bit analog
interesting, i wonder what bandwidth remains
There is other options like SNAC ENCC and LLapi but meh
i wonder if you could like, use a multitap, but then have the core basically convert the multitap inputs back into standard P1 P2 inputs
basically making every game multitap compatible without them having to know it
I like my boards dead and deep fried
Wait then how does the ITX have mt32 and snac at the same time?
that's not going to happen. SNAC code is basically telling the hardware that pins x-y of the USB are u-v in the console
it is now, it doesn't have to do that though
would be cool if the core can multiplex
like 1 pin can control if data goes to controller 1 or 2
with regards to non-standard. Only lightguns are the only ones with no USB conversion?
Lol you know me. Big hater
Don't worry I pressed dislike to get you back for him lol
hope doing that he'll finally answer my question about the switch lite mod he's doing
Happy Saturnday!
and a very happy Saturnday to you

The V1 Ironclad ITX MT-32pi board used forked cores that uses the userport 2 pins. The newer Pro model makes SNAC and MT32pi switchable via the power button or IR remote, you cant run both at the same time but has the benefit of using the main cores
ehhhhhhhhhhhhh I'd say Daemonbite
LLAPI has its own limitations
just go with a low latency regular USB adapter
I’m good friends with Segata Sanshiro and he told me the Saturn core is the best way to play Saturn. True story.
his name has Sega in it?
Yes
I belive sega did this to keep it backwards compatible with megadrive controllers
everybody’s name has Sega in it if you spell it wrong enough
random
i love the sega font
i wish there was a hiragana/katakana version
It’s genuinely a good and unique logo
the old one really has that 70’s energy
oh yeah the service part specifically referred to the military
they got their start with slot machines and the like at US army barracks in Japan
It’s a bit of a tangent but that history makes the name more evocative and interesting to me
Also I like how Sega stuck with the type face
their even older one is cool
the red one i associate with their electromechanical arcade machines
Ohhh damn I didn’t know
I assumed it was always the modern one lol
