One language I was really surprised it was easy to catch on to just from visiting a country is German. They really like jamming words together to make longer ones so if you know part of the word you can just use your intuition to get the gist of what it means.

It made perfect sense at the time because the game was intended as a launch title and at that stage they planned to use CE for eveything. I don’t see how it is any more of an abstaction layer than any other OS that the games had to use.

games of that era typically didn't use an OS, they instead coded for the metal

it wasn't really until Xbox that it became a thing for a console to actually have an OS

the worst part of sega rally 2 is the way its kinda fine ... until you turn a corner

there are a few ways to improve it, for starters the japanese version just runs better

then there's a cheat to lock the fps to 30, and another one that strips trackside detail

kinda crazy, the jpn version is sometimes 2x the framerate of the US version

double buffer vsync for a game like that is a really bad idea too lol - that might be directly winCEs fault

Riven is an interesting case

PS1 is higher resolution but with shitty image compression, everything looks washed out

PS1 has 5 discs instead of 4 which means a lot more disc swapping in Riven

the real answer is "play on PC lol" but both have some merits to them

yeah, princess crown is one of those games that makes having a saturn core awesome…just hope that a translation effort eventually succeeds
