Can anyone get In the Hunt to load? I used to be able to play it in older core builds, but the last few broke the game for me.

I've tested with the 3 regions on my system with a Dual RAM build, only Legions doesn't want to start after the title screen; the JPN and EU ones are booting now (they refused on the previous versions).

For seasoned users, yes. However, we have a lot of new MiSTer owners here who’ve joined because of the progress of the N64 core. They need some minor education on the process of things, which is normal. Actually I’m surprised by how little those questions are asked. Must be due to the hyper niche DIY nature of MiSTer only attracting the hardcore.

That game considers hitting the opponent as experience, but it doesn't account for whether or not the enemy is still alive. This means it's possible to farm for easy EXP by repeatedly juggling the enemy in a corner.

is there documentation on how bios bin files should be loaded? I can get things working by changing the region and the loading the hopefully correct region bios file but it feels fiddely and I'm not sure what the proper order of operations is

I think part of my confusion is that sometimes I get a "cd bios not found!" popup message and then the game loads up just fine anyway.

Nothing to worry about.

Vampire has the details on their website, but the gist is, don't have a boot.rom in the games/Saturn folder or the core will crash. So most of us rename it to boot.bin and then use OSD to load bios after loading the core. That's it.

You can also try one of the many region free bios floating around (I can't link to them, but they're pretty easy to find).

Several games are fully playable with nothing but minor audio issues, several more games are in various stages of not working

So it’s worth trying out and seeing if what you’re after works, but don’t get discouraged if it’s not yet there

Some games work remarkably well, some will have various issues. The core is basically at a point where it should only get significantly more stable as updates continue to drop. So I'd say it's worth getting on it. It's practically in beta phase if you're not planning to play lightgun games with an actual lightgun.

Rename boot.rom to boot.bin and then open the OSD after loading the core and manually load bios. It's a known issue currently.

If boot.rom is in the games folder it will crash the core on launch. Hence the rename.
