Ced is the Fenrir developer. Make of it what you will. I am still waiting on the Duo to arrive, so I cannot attest to anything myself.

Exactly the same happened with the Satiator dev. Redditors freaked out about that list of games (you know, the one that’s just lies) and went on and on about implementing disk swap. Until some brave soul - I linked one of the GitHub issues above - actually tried the things and said “yeah they all save at the end of a disk, some of them auto save without telling you though”

I do love how well it demonstrates that the people freaking out about it never played the games 😄

The game saving prior to the disc change so you can reset the console and load the next disc IS NOT a disc swap.

Phoebe/Rhea implementation you have a dedicated physical button to change the disc. Open the lid and do it like you would with a CD.
That is disc swap.

Not all games save between discs, that's what the function is for. So no, not all games with multiple discs are playable on some ODEs. We had this during the early days of the PSX beta core, we couldn't change the discs and MGS for example required the disc swap, no saves between discs.

IMO it defeats the purpose of an ODE. The idea is to use original hardware. Saturn emulators while improving a lot over what we used to have, are not perfect. Glad that a lot more people will know how great the saturn was with mister.

Yeah, the tube rotation would be ccw for the Taito games. It's 'rotated' cw on a standard orientation. We're probably all using different definitions, hehe. But yes, tube rotation is more clear and tube rotation for tha Taito games I've tried would be CCW.

From there it quickly Balloons into $1000+ direct drive wheels with enough force feedback to break your wrist

Logitech FFB protocol is the same across most (all?) of it's steering wheel devices. So the adapter can passthrough the data. Same thing the PCSX2 plugin does with logitech devices.

I'll try it on my Saturn and the MiSTer through the RetroPad32. I've tried plugging the Wireless 360 adapter directly in MiSTer before but only button presses on the wheel were recognized, not the pedals and the wheel, I didn't think to plug it into the RP32 and then into MiSTer. This was a while ago before there was more focus on getting wheel axis to work.

I was able to play Outrun in the JT core with that wheel. Some issues with mapping triggers and buttons, but the steering axis worked fine and felt pretty nice tbh

Yeah, I've got a Fenrir in the current unit. Trying to get a black one but they're pretty hard to come by for anything other than insane money. I can get a PAL one from the UK but shipping is astronomical, and then I'd need to either do a DFO mod or a crystal transplant.

That is indeed the latest version of the core, and yeah it's super early still so that's just how it works at the moment. Most games have audio issues and graphical issues. There are some that work really well though, like Mega Man 8.

there's some pretty solid evidence to suggest that a lot more can be done just by fixing the CD timings, see @drifting frigate's experiments above where a big pile of games that were unstable got fixed just by using fast CIFS instead of MiSTer's slow USB/SD card

I have just updated the script so now it should work again. As it turns out Github deletes the automatic builds at srg320's github after 90 days so that is why people are getting errors. I’m in the UK, don’t know if that makes a difference. I’ve actually got two of the shifter boxes - the one pictured above and an older one without the yellow button. I get the same result on both TVs with my MiSTer and also an RGB modded N64. Very frustrating.

I don’t think that I’ve missed anything when setting them up but I’m open to any advice 🙂

Hello to everyone, I used the gojira script to add the Saturn core to my MiSTer. I made a Saturn folder and placed the bios file along with a game (willy wombat japanese version) in the folder. I am able to access the Saturn menu but I can't press play. It's shaded out. I am using the bios version that was stated to be working. Did I miss a step or should I simply be patient because this core is in early stages?

/media/fat/_consoles (hold the console cores)

/media/fat/_computers (holds the computer cores)

/media/fat/games/[platform name]

holds the roms etc.

so you can drop the cores and roms in the right directory

Options : DRAM 4MB on the core menu.

Only KOF95 and Ultraman need a special ROM card.
KOF96 only works with a 1MB DRAM card, corrupted graphics with a 4MB one.

Don't forget to reboot completely the core sometimes between games too.

There is a hack for at least kof 96 that allows for using 4MB ram, also there is a kof 95 hack that converts the game into using sram instead of a rom cart. The first is not really needed but the second may be usefull here.

Astra Super Stars supports both 1MB and 4MB carts, the games takes more time on first load with 4MB, the loads between matches are faster.

Cyberbots and Pocket fighter works with 4MB carts to, cybertots shows 3MB detected in options iirc.

No. I tested the straight game. So I could say “it works” vs trying some fan build where I wouldn’t know what was causing the issue

I so far tested SotN, Twinkle Star Sprites and Deathmask (to see FMV in action long term)

Won’t have any more testing time today but I’ll do more tomorrow for a vid next week. Tomorrow will be new core testing fun

I tested that last run and the fmv worked fine but I could never get into the game
