has anyone else noticed that played next to combos image shows up even if the combo doesn’t activate? I’ve been using Oxalaia and Spinosaurus and even when they aren’t played next to each other, causing the ability not to activate, the image for the combo still shows up

There's a subtle difference (at least in the game) between "next to" and "adjacent to". One they just have to be played in the same turn, the other means one of the cards needs to be played in the center slot.

Yeah, the problem is that the combo text still shows up even if the combo doesn’t activate because the activation requirement isn’t there

Oh, so you mean the text, not the animation. Because the animation did activate. I think a few of those are built to function separately. Yes, that should get fixed.
