#Card Quality Control 🃏🛂

Dear Avid,

we got a bit of a problem in this game.

Look at Nausicaa, a basic legendary. Now Look at Ace of Cups, a limited legendary.

Nausicaa is superior to ace of cups. It generates a little more power, has no drawbacks, and even cheapens itself. Ace generates less power and has a drawback.

(Both cards posted below)

So what's my point? You guys NEED to do a closer inspection of cards you plan on releasing. There are far too many expensive Limited legendary, and even Mythic cards that are inferior to literal basics.

I mean, just look at Project Blue Book. Utter useless garbage.

Dark Photon? Also borderline useless

A good chunk of limlegs In this game? Literally unplayable.

Why would I ever try to trade for, or hope to pull a Mythic or Limleg that's inferior to a basic I can get far easier, or already have?

This issue also contributes to the powercreeping problem in this game.

I understand that some cards are a lot older. If that's a problem, just buff them to be up to snuff with the more recent cards of their same rarity

So, what I'm saying is:
Do a lot more Quality Control. Run the numbers on cards before you release them. Cross examine them with other cards that have similar abilities, even ask some of the very trustworthy players in this community what they think.

Sincerely, @boreal crystal

Cone Nebula came first

#

and is in a much better collection than John Wesley Hardin

#

Cone Nebula by itself, not buffing any nebula cards, is an objectively better John Wesley Harden. Both result in a net 115 power swing, but Cone Nebula does it for cheaper by itself.

If you were including base power as well, the numbers would still be different

#

John Wesley: net 135

Cone nebula: net 145 at minimum, net 205 at maximum

Cone gives all your nebulae +30

#

so 3 nebulae is + 90 + 45 + 40 (base) for net 175 power

fossil spire
#

giant wave in perseus and ghost

#

one gives you energy occasionally when you play it

#

the other gurantees energy and if youre losing it gives you more

#

also ghost costs 2 less energy and has +1 power

#

yeah i get its limited but still for a rare its crazy compared to a legendary

Yeah but limrare>normal legendary so it makes sense for ghost to be better. Also, using ghost usually means your deck requires quite a bit of extra energy and ghost’s ability requires you to be in an unfavourable position (losing) to be fully activated

#

We also have Brownie and Piñata that have the same ability but Piñata requires you to have won at least one round

I believe you also need to consider the album, collection and general synergies that the card has, analyzing just the raw power of the card individually doesn't make sense.

Well, I'm against the idea of cards that are strong just for the sake of being strong without any cost in deck building.

cough cough Funeral Bell.

Having both Nausicaa and Ace of Cups isn't a bad thing though; you'd never run the former in Tarot and the latter in Odyssey. While I agree that Nausicaa is probably better, as the game is there's usually enough energy that there's no hindrance to running an 8 Base card over a 4 Base card. More lower energy weeks (except the 13energy ones, those are... meh) might help.

That's fair, ya. Powercreep is especially bad lately.

Bayonet got powercrept in less than a month, not that the card was especially useful to begin with
