Anybody that calls it "androids" instantly loses any respect

||it's called clickbait and it works because all the Androids users get triggered when you say Androids||

Use whatever phone you want but I've made an interesting observation (that is probably just a personal bias or only applies to Europe or whatever): Anyone that does business and has money uses an iPhone (without a special reason)

It's the same reason a lot of CEO and business types will wear the same outfit every day. Customization is a gimmick that wastes time, gives you little actual benefit, and will give you decision fatigue.

iOS is less customizable but it's ready to use out of the box to be productive. Apple places a large emphasis on their devices being low hassle. That leaves their users with more time to focus on what gives them actual value.

I say that as someone who's been using Android devices since 2011 and who entirely ignores all customization on my devices except where I get real value such as IDE themes, customized terminal prompts, etc. Even then I'm mostly using preexisting stuff that's freely available and does what I need.

That's a lie lol

You buy the iPhone, you don't have any bullshit about setup, it just works

#

Never breaks down, never pisses you off, even if you physically destroy it you go to any Apple store and walk out with a working phone not even an hour later

They say it's never going to give you up, nor let you down. Supposedly it's never going to run away or desert you. They say it's never going to make you cry, you never have to say goodbye to it. But I'm gonna tell you - it's a lie and it's gonna hurt you.

#

and hurt you bad

The real winner is the one that doesn't cost 1k

onyx prism
#

I've been paying that much for my phones for awhile...

Hard disagree with Marques' list. I have found that he is just biased towards iPhones and there are a lot of factors that could've been considered or mattered more. There is no "objective" winner.

the pixel is the BEST

Realistically I don't care what phone I have as long as it's reasonably priced. I think iPhones have hardware that I'm not really interested in paying for. I fear that most people are over paying for their phones too when all they do is watch YouTube and listen to podcasts.

#

Need an iPhone Air.

#

I do think maybe I could be in the minority though

#

I know there are a lot of mobile gamers?

#

I'm not sure what else people really do now on their phones haha maybe they somehow do work too.

onyx prism

#

Ohh what's the price?

onyx prism
#

No, you're right, almost no one needs the compute power in modern phones. The tensor chips Google uses aren't even as fast as the Qualcomm chips in other flagship android phones and no one seems to even notice.

onyx prism

#

Wow that's not bad at all

onyx prism
#

The trade off is a <5" screen

waxen plover
#

I have the pixel 7a, I think it's a 6''1 display.

onyx prism
#

When I upgrade next my only real requirements are USB-C and a >5.5" screen

waxen plover
#

Yeah I'd say probably same for me.

onyx prism
#

Don't care about anything else, even battery

#

Baseline is more than enough for anyone at this point

onyx prism
#

Depends

onyx prism
#

Reality is I don't need a new phone. I've just got minor annoyances with my current phone...

Hey Marques, how many flagships have you used as a daily driver?
Marques "all of them"

zenith meadow
#

Eh his opinion is just as valid as mine. He cares about those things, but I don't. I don't think my list would change if I used more phones

onyx prism
#

His opinion has more weight because he's got something to compare against.

#

And fwiw he only gave it the edge, he didn't say it was a definitive leader and Android is trash

#

Clearly an os developed by one company for their own hardware is gonna be better integrated than an os built for the hardware of every company.

#

Also saying things like "I don't think my list would change" is evidence of bias. You don't actually know but your bias makes you feel like you do

onyx prism
#

That's not a bias though, that's a preference

zenith meadow
#

Difference doesn't really matter

onyx prism
#

I just think I'm trying to say that saying you disagree with someone and accusing them of bias because they've got a different opinion than you is evidence of a strong bias. Bias is normal but everyone should examine their biases to ensure they're worth holding on to

zenith meadow
#

All I am saying is that one is not better than the other and no one can tell me or someone else otherwise.

#

I would have said the same thing if someone had called androids better than iphone

onyx prism
#

Marques said as much... for the average individual though, iOS is marginally an easier choice. The average person isn't tech savvy and just wants a smartphone to do smartphone things. Not everyone is average and should evaluate the trade offs of each platform to pick the one that best suits them.

iPhones in the US have always been more popular than Android phones. On the global market I do think the lack of budget options pushes people away from iPhones.

dark fern
#

iOS is like Mac OS for phones

#

Yeah fair point, was also talking about the user experience after installation I guess

dark fern
#

Yup, just comes down to use-case and preferences
