Market volatility is the amount a given security can change within a given time period. If volatility is low, it's most likely not going to go up or down by much.

Another way of measuring how a security may move is the ATR. I think this kind of applies here too. If a security has an ATR of 2.00, then it COULD continue to move at that amount. If the TREND is .5, 1, 1.5... then volatility is increasing and MAY continue to increase, the opposite is true of the reverse.
That won't say in which direction it will move, but the LIKLIHOOD that it MAY move by a given amount in any direction. In growth stocks, the ATR is usually low. In Momentum stocks, the ATR is usually high. Which is why you usually shouldn't day trade growth stocks with high dividends.

If anyone wants to understand bollinger bands, I first recommend understanding bell curves. If you understand that concept (blocking out outliers and using standard deviation) you can quickly grasp a bollinger band. Sorry to keep interjecting, just trying to help folks who are just starting out.

Imagine drawing two lines around a MA. Outside of those lines blocks out random fluctuations that don't make sense. If there are more fluctuations, the lines get further from the MA... less fluctuations and they move closer. It's more complicated than that, but it's the basic idea.

@empty solar If you folks wanted to, you could probably have an extremely low cost signal service just based on what you're pushing into the bot channels. Just add webhooks and people would pay just to get the signals. Tons of people are pushing low quality ones around, these seem to be pretty good and need a lot less confirmation than others i've seen.

@thin trail There is an army of developers out there who would gladly pay $20, $50, $100 dollars a month just for webhook signals. A lot of services do what you do, post signals somewhere... but they're not actionable my algo's. There's a great market if you wanted it. I could whip up a webhook service in an afternoon, so I'm sure you could get it done and create a new revenue stream by only using what you already have.
Essentially, it's just a mechanism that sends a POST /your/endpoint HTTP request with some of the data you already collected with your discord bot.

I use discord to signal a trade. If I am waiting for a specific level I add an alert on trend lines. I'm not doing anything sophisticated to be honest. Managing alerts in TV can become a full time job if you put to many. I had so many that I started ignoring them because they annoyed me... so I might not be a good person to give suggestions. Lol

@noble solstice Having multiple timeframes of each pair helps me see how a trend progresses from small to large timeframes. It acts like a confirmation in some circumstances. I can keep a pair open to watch on each of three monitors, plus I can keep all of these indicators.
