anyone can join if they find an invite link but people are likely to stay if theres some sort of "theme" to the server
like displace is focused around discord stuff and thats why people stay usually. to get help on discord questions like this or to stay in the know with the news feeds and stuff
Also how can a stranger possibly find my community?
well unless youre getting it out on to the internet, its unlikely that someone will just randomly come around
server lists like top.gg, disboard, discord.me, etc do work sometimes but depending on what your server is about you might have more retention using some other sort of advertising
