Isn't sophisticated storage harder to do than a simple chest? Aditionally, these chests would be an extra way to store the items you want in your house

sophstorage is barely more difficult to acquire than an iron chest
all it needs ontop is a Redstone Torch

iron chests/shulkers is a straight up downgrade
to save on 1 redstone torch you give up the option to have upgrades in the chests, and all the integration with other mods through a controller

Fair enough. But I think at least Iron Furnaces would be nice to have ( unless there is a mod in the pack that does the same)

you have access to power very early on, which means that both enderio and thermal are able to fill in the same slot as far as having a furnace that can automate input/output.
same thing goes for scaling it up for faster processing and smelting multiple stacks in parallel, which you can do with enderio to some extent (3 items at a time) and with mekanism later on
don't get me wrong, i love iron furnaces, i just don't think there's a need for it here
