Tameable mobs

I was thinking that it might be fun to try and collect one each of all the tameable mobs barring temporary ones from spells and I was wondering if there might be a list of them all or something.

shouldn't be too hard:

• vanilla
• alex' mobs (has a book with a list of all, but not all are tameable, some might have special interactions though)
• other mods? do others even have tameable mobs?

well for "Tamable" you'd have to include summons such as familiars from ars and goety and other mods that aren't temporary. no? it would probably be over 30 easy id think. including ice and fire aswell.

I was wondering if there was like a rule to the charm spell from ars i saw someone mention they charmed a tremosaurous but i dont know what the rules are around what i can charm and how long the charm spell works for (For example i tamed DK )

The rule is pretty simple. If it's a mob that can be tamed charm will tame it
If it cant be tamed, charm will temporarily have it see you as an ally (like an iron golem)

Don't forget ice and fire dragons are tamable (normally via egg hatching or you can use an ahnk from Corail's to turn a wild one into a familiar)

Ice and fire tameables:

• Amphitheres (5 colors): tame by riding them
• Hippocampus (6 colors): tame by feeding sponges
• Hippogryph (7 variants): tame by dropping rabbit feet while on the ground or from egg
• Cockatrice (2 variants): tame by staring at them or from rotten egg from chickens
• Ice dragon (4 colors m/f): tame from egg in cold water
• Fire dragon (4 colors m/f): tame from egg on fire
• Lighting dragon (4 colors m/f): tame from egg during storm
• Fairies (5 colors with different effects): tame by dropping cake near them
• Myrmex (2 colors with 5 variations each): “tamed” by dropping resin correlating to the color and once you reach 100% affection you can trade with the queen to get a queen egg that once hatched will always have 100% affection to you regardless of infractions against the hive. Tip: collect resin at another hive to trade with one closer to where you are, also queens often get themselves killed so try to get them secured before doing anything.

Mowzies mobs tameables:

• Sunbird minions (6 varieties with different effects): Using the sunbird boss mask right click a minion mask to make it your own minion that follows and buffs you.
• Grottol (a rare little rock creature): “tamed” by killing with silk touch pickaxe for spawn egg, put in wooden box to keep else it’ll burrow away.
• Foliaath: kill and plant seed where you want, will grow if fed meat, stays aggressive
• Naga (supposedly): might not even be added yet but confirmed by dev as a feature that will be added and that was a few updates ago

Not super familiar with the other mods but these two I’ve read the wiki a few times over in the past few years for my zoo so I know which ones are the easiest to move around

And the easy ones from Cataclysm:

• Baby Leviathan: tamed with tropical fish after hatching from egg
• Modern Remnant: tamed with sniffer egg after placing skull
• Netherite Ministrosity: tamed with power cells

I’ll have to check the wiki for all the Alex’s caves ones, I know there are a ton there

to turn tamable mobs into familiars? you need a certain amount of good reputation (usually gained killing illigers) and you get "prayer of empathy" which allows you to simply hold right click on a mob to turn it into familiar.

bad rep also works but only on undead. idk the threshold for what counts but I've tamed quite a few special mobs in testing wonder if it works on like mutant zombies

Yeah, Goety has some pretty sick summons that are permanent

Prowler, Aptrgangr, Redstone Golem, Redstone Monstrosity, so on, so forth

I wouldn't say the summons from goety are familiars, they're more like servants or constructs, familiars feel closer to companionship, and as a goety and lich enjoyer, I don't like that
