During any online game my game will randomly freeze up visually. I’m still able to control the game during it but it leads to sds and lost situations a ton. I’ve checked a lot on my own pc side it’s not dealing with a peripheral or the monitor. Totally could be my outdated hardware but I’m still running it on a 1080 ti. Any ideas how to fix this?

does it come in bursts of 2
Bump
Yep lmao
🥀 the curse
This bug is literally killing my motivation. I cant practice effectively ever and its been this way for like a month and some change now
I tried the stage mod and updating my graphic drivers
settings are on as low as possible on a fairly strong PC
i feel you, as far as i know the devs are aware, they are working on putting out optimization updates going forward
so we kinda just have to wait and hope things get better
Do you experience this only with Rivals 2?
rivals 2 and sf6 are the only two games that do it
What controller do you use?
Looking at SF6 threads about weird stuttering issues, there are a couple of possible culprits here:
- Steam and Xbox drivers are fighting with one another
- Microsoft Game Bar causing issues
- Playing with an xbox controller w/ wireless adapter has an audio driver issue that's conflicting with something for some reason?
ps5 controller for rivals 2
keyboard for sf6
PS5 controller can steal audio when playing which i would suspect is similar to the audio driver issue mentioned above that seems to happen with the xbox contoller w/ wireless adapter.
If you have another controller that isn't a PS5 controller, I suggest to try that
i fixed the audio stealing thing for r2
Not sure if you can use BT with a ps5 controller, but try that as well
BT?
bluetooth
I'll check it out
What'd you do to fix it
just changed my output device back to my headphones and the audio issue never came back
Audio driver still exists on your system even if you change the output audio source. It still could cause weird driver conflict here and there **which could **be what you're seeing.
Still suggest to disable microsoft game bar and run both r2 and sf6 and see what the performance is like.
If it still persists for R2, try a different controller or run the game with four CPUs in local versus, and see if the stuttering issue persists.
Windows also has a gaming optimization mode(?) if i remember correctly, I know someone who had that cause stuttering issues in the past. Might want to play around with that as well
ty 🙏, ill try it out and lyk
Np. let me know if anything i suggest works.
Unfortunately, I don't have a PS5 controller / windows machine, so I can't say for certain what is the core cause of the issue.
i uninstalled the ps5 controller audio drivers, and disabled gamebar, still no luck so far
playing with 4 cpus lagged a whole lot less
still stutters every now and again, but shorter and less frequent than me playing
game was actually watchable tho
I'll look at what other possible solutions could exist later tn after work
Quick thing you could look into while I search for more info later.

This person had an issue where there was a USB device being constantly reconnecting that caused the issue, try that software mentioned in here and see if that could be causing the issue.
The thread also has a list of things that they've done as well prior to determining what the cause of the issue was. That list may be a good reference point.
ty, I'll try this out tomorrow, got caught up in overwatch tonight
i unplugged my keyboard and the lag almost completely vanished
it felt fake kinda lol
like the game was running too well
anytime i replugged my keyboard the lag came back
but after a while of playing online (over the course of like 6 hours) the lag came back worse
idk if it was internet or what
Next time this happens, check task manager and see if rivals 2 is taking up a ton of ram
Ngl seeing that the keyboard was what was causing the lag is weird. Not sure if that's a keyboard issue or the specific USB port
ill check later if it lags in the old port with just controller
ill try 😭, a little hard bc i unplug the keyboard and stuff but ill see what i can do
No worries, at least you do know that it was a keyboard causing the issue
it wasnt
lag came back
the game is actually just messing with me or something
today i try to play again
and its lagging worse than ever
holy
literally unplayable lag
What is task manager showing while you have your game running? Is it using a lot of cpu / GPU / ram?
nah, not when it runs well or when it lags, i downloaded the usb thing from the sf6 thread and everytime a lag spike happens 3 usbs disconnect and reconnect
i realize u asked what i showed and i said nah
it showed fine lol
no spikes or anything
So this happened when you didn't have the USB software running? Or only when its running
before i even downloaded it
My b for making you do a lot of work, but if you can identify what three usbs keep disconnecting / reconnecting, unplug those permanently and see how the performance is
all good, ik what they are, its my mouse, keyboard, and controller
but idk what to do :(
