#Crystal Oasis may need optimisation (also Orcane bubbles)

(this was about Orcane's bubbles at first and wondering about my friend's performance problems with an AMD setup related to them, this changed after a bit of analysis, don't worry about it)

We were in a match on Crystal Oasis. My friend noticed regular 20+ frames dips whenever I would use Orcane's bubble attacks, going from 80-87 FPS to ~55 FPS, at 1080p.

His computer is not really that powerful, but it's still quite a ways above recommended specs.

His:
AMD Radeon 5600XT
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor
DDR4 32GB RAM

The video is just a showcase from my POV, I don't suffer from performance dips, but I noticed that my own GPU/CPU utilisation was completely stable while using bubbles. The recording doesn't show my overlay, I hovered between 60-65% with my GPU being at only 75W out of a max of 280W and CPU was at 13% the whole way, 120 FPS / 1440p.

Mine:
Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
DDR5 32GB RAM

He believes it's a problem with drivers since AMD drivers have been the bane of his existence according to him (they're up to date), but just in case, maybe it's game/engine to AMD related?

Ah and it was the version right before the new one that just released with Badger Olympia, it was on 1.2.0.5

EDIT: I'll try to look today on my own on this stage with uncapped framerate, that way I'll be sure whether or not it's AMD related if I get significant frame dips by using bubbles.

Okay there's some shenanigan going on. This stage is definitely more demanding than others, going from Godai Delta to Crystal Oasis there's like a 10-15% difference in performance on my end.

The bubbles do impact my performance and frequently makes the game lose 10-20 FPS, but on a 350-400 FPS baseline, it's not dramatic.

What's strange though is:

1- The more the camera is pulled in, the worse the performance? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

2- That goshdarn minecart that appears every 8 seconds or so does impact performance by about 15 frames every time it appears.

Personally it's not an issue to me since I play at 120 FPS and it's always stable, but my friend with a 5600XT should hit at least 60 FPS at 1080p despite the combination of a lot of things, and these performance hitching below that bar seem very strange for a setup that should run this without problems relatively speaking. Maybe it's not meant for high detail levels?

This stage may be the current "Fountain of Dreams" of performance, mid-range builds could have trouble with 4 players on it.

It seems to be related to this? I have a Radeon RX 560 (almost everything low or disabled, 720p) and my game freezes when trying to load new moves (it's not specific to any map in particular but it's even more noticeable on Merchant Port and Godai Delta when we're both at 1 stock (couldn't try on Crystal Oasis yet, generally by the end of a 1st game all moves are loaded)

No. The problem in my thread is something else.
The problem he describes are true performance hits. It should not be an AMD driver issue. Orcanes bubbles are just performance demanding and it's known.
And crazy rollback is also really cpu heavy. This game just has some rough corners that can be improved :D
And I know a case were someone figured out, that you get performance hits if a character is really close to the camera in freecam. 1- The more the camera is pulled in, the worse the performance? Shouldn't it be the other way around? This fits to that.
So his friend perhaps has just normal performance issues because of unoptimized stuff. My guess is, that the GPU is just struggling a little bit in some scenarios. So...hardware related. (although his friend meets the system requirements for this game)

Shipped it to the team to verify, thank you!
