#Fleet can't slow fall with Short Hop button

pomme had the same problem in rivals 1, I'm not sure this is a fixable problem you might have to change your control scheme around a bit.
yeah I just use jump binding because of it, it's unfortunate though
Yeah I would really like a fix for this, i like have L set to short hop, and would like to float with that same button (in roa 1 aswell D: )
So I am pretty sure they would have to completely change how you input float for this to be possible. The way you input float is by holding down jump. A short hop by definition is a jump input of less than 4 frames
So inputting it manually it's impossible to get float in a shorthop
If the shorthop button is just a macro to input a jump of 1 frame, then it can never do the float input
there's a lot wrong with that but I don't feel like typing it all, hopefully the devs can figure it out
the short version is that peach can shorthop float in melee because her jump squat is 5 frames and there's no buffer, In rivals 2 it's actually very difficult to sh float but only because the game is "easier" by having shorter jump squat and a buffer.
on the other hand the game lets you bind grab to nair for full drift nair so "you can't do it normally" is false (if you're frame perfect) but also irrelevant because they're already willing to make macros of things you can't do
Those are some good points, the biggest thing I was saying was that holding the shorthop button doesn't do anything because its just a macro for inputting a couple frames of jump. You would have to make more changes under the hood of how the game works or create a button just for fleet basically to solve this
I'm pretty sure nair macro already works like that but maybe it secretly disables drift for a frame 🤷
but yeah I just want to be able to press sh macro and down while already airborne to float
I just found this thread since I was going to post it myself, but I totally agree. I have short hop bound to my trigger, and full hop bound to my bumper. It works great for every character except fleet and it puts a little bit of extra strain on my hands.
I don't exactly know how the game is coded, but I think it should be quite easy for them to add.
