Restored our Cr-10 s4 after being unused since 2020 but when i started a print to test this happened twice and im not sure what is going on here it’s moving towards the y axis.

I used orcaslicer printed from sd card and the hotend is stock creality with direct drive, bullseye and dual 5015 for cooling if that helps.

That looks like either the stepper motor loosing steps/skipping (either dud or vref too low) or your belt tension on which axis is layer shift is loose (tighten your belts)

Belt tension

Most likely

I see, then it's either vref or vrollers needs adjustment/bent frame

A possibility yeah, or it's just a case of worn v rollers or just out of adjustment

Not technically bad, prob out of adjustment, the eccentric nut would fix it, if it's worn, no matter how much you turn the nut, it won't make contact (or bearings making the crunchy sound)

plush mason

Did adjust them but tried to print after and it still failed then checked them again and some stopped making contact again not sure why

manic sorrel

Huh, sounds like the nylon nut securing the eccentric nut is worn causing it to turn over time

#

Or uneven wear on the v roller

#

Or yeah, bent frame

Wouldn’t think its the wheels as i did replace them had a set of new ones but ill check if the frame sits flat today hopefully would be visible.

#

wheels will be replaced with 4 linear rails and 8 carriages instead just waiting them to arrive

Thr powersupplys suck hard on the cr10 maybe it degraded. Or you have to high acceleration. The s4 printbed is quite a mass to move

manic sorrel
#

Yeah that too, had a dude who has an issue with their psu (specifically the caps) bulging

Degradation happens over time usage just accelerates it.

manic sorrel
#

Yeah, although that much layer shifting is nuts for just 4years of storage (assuming its stored in an ideal condition)

#

Prob yeah, prob need to visit every motion components, and of the psu (till then, lower accels and jerk settings)

plush mason
#

I never thought psu would be an issue everything works like it did before neither the x or z axis have issues only Y

as for printer pictures ill send tomorrow as printer is at work and I've left if u have specific area to show would be better currently bed is taken apart still

violet gate
#

Yeah no wonder you can try 250 acceleration of you are lucky

plush mason
#

Still doing linear rails as the extrusion is kindof bent but thank you

#

It seems to be going good

#

Cleaned and lubed the pulley also found it to be tough to spin

violet gate
#

glad iit works now 🙂

plush mason
#

All looks good so far but i assume this is underextrusion?

violet gate
#

at first glance id say you are a bit too cold

plush mason
#

km guessing go up to 230 would be good?

violet gate
#

yes but dont lower the temp

#

it doesnt save a lot and youll only get issues

plush mason
#

Have done a temp tower now but 180 failed so stopped it

violet gate
#

Not surprising with 190 beeing the lowest for pla

We need to rid of that shadowing, can't see best temp from that, but 210 is a good start point, have we done flow rates?
