#Overhang corner quality issue

I am having a little trouble playing with profiles to clean up an overhanging corner. Further up the print it seems to be okay but the lower corner is pretty janky. Both are 45 degrees exactly.

Quality is otherwise good.

This is polymaker petg, 0.2mm layer height, 0.4mm line width 240C, 80C bed, 240mms print speed, 1mm/s max square corner velocity, 3000 mm/s^2 acceleration, 2 walls with 30% cubic infill. Running on a modified ender 3 with Klipper. Sliced in cura 5.6.

I am not super sure what to dial in to get that to clean up

I have 12 more of these to print so I don't want to just tank the speed, I don't see why I would be crap this low but better higher up.

Maybe something to do with part cooling?

Yeah possibly part cooling

#

Also are you printing in an enclosure?

untold comet
#

Yes

#

Starts at 18 in the enclosure, hits apparently 39 at the end of the print

#

This would be in the first bits of the print

You should probably get it warm first and then start the print

#

Maybe keep the bed temp up for 10 or so minutes before you print just for that enclosure to warm up

Possibly, I would bet it isn't cooling fast enough with the heat from the bed, I need to design a test part for this.

Did you check the code preview? I might be imaging but it looks too me like the inner wall pokes through

I have had this issue on another print, similar overhanging corner structure but I had chalked it up to the cheap pla.

Never figured that out, I just printed painfully slowly

Made a quick test part

#
  1. 50% part cooling fan
  2. 100% part cooling fan (repaired my warped fan duct too)
  3. 100% fan and dropped acceleration to 1000mm/s^2
  4. 100% fan, 500 mm/s^2, changed PA to 0.05
  5. 100% fan, 500 mm/s^2, ran another PA calibration test and ran at 0.068.

Better but not perfect, Seems like PA tuning made the most difference here

Update: Almost perfect, I think playing with the PA a little more will fix it fully.

Unfortunately it did add quite a lot of time to the print so maybe I should play with the g-code to swap back to normal settings higher up

I hope i can explain it well in englisch if the nozzle moves in a 90 degree angle the time /distance it spends is "greater" then if its a oriantation that requires movement in 2 axis at once

I will give it a crack

Got results?

Kind of, the spool actually broke apart on me, I think they didn't do a good enough job hot gluing it, so my print failed as the filiment got stuck

#

Corner wasn't any better on the one side, I think that is related to the seam and not to speed or cooling

#

With slightly different PA settings

#

Interesting banding, I suspect related to lower speed on the overhang

granite harbor

Ah damn would have been a too easy solution

@untold comet anny success with the solvents? the discussion on reddit is getting esoterical slowly ... differnt density pla = no pla etc ...
