Howdy, I got a new SKR V1.4 control board to replace my silent board for the Ender 3. I've wired up everything but can't get the Mini12864 V2.0 LCD to light up. I have put in the jumpers on the board, though I still lack the stepper drivers, would the lack of stepper drivers cause the whole circuit of the board be open? I have the EXP 1 and 2 in the same port as they should on the board. I hope this was enough information

Alright, I unplugged everything except power and I get a lights up. The LCD lights up but no display. The LCD has a display ribbon cable but the board does not have anything for it to go into. I was told that the LCD and board are compatible.
what do you mean, you have exp1 and 2 ports on the board
doesnt the screen plug into those?
you need both as far as i know.
Yes, the board and LCD both have EXP1 and 2 however, the LCD has a display ribbon cable port that the board does not. The board and videos I've seem show that the LCD does not need to use the display port
I have plugged the board cables (exp 1 and 2) into the board (exp 1 and 2)
The lights turn on around the display but the LCD itself (the values and such you'd see) does not show
I assume so
what do you mean you assume so?
The SKIZ V1.4 said it's compatible with this board
Like in my old post, my old board was fucked and nothing I did told me shit π
I bought the SKR V1.4 and it said was compatible with the 12864
it is compatible. im still confused what the issue is.. you unpacked the board. installed everything and turned it on?
The LED has now turned on, the end-stops caused a short
However
The LCD does not display anything, the LEDs on the board only turn on
Which is what the picture displays
bro. what happened to the step between installing everything and turning it on (compiling the firmware and loading it onto the board)
what is the board and lcd supposed to do with nothing on it.
Is the firmware not already installed?
no.
π
its not really plug and play. i mean it is.. you can plug everything into the board 1:1 but you need firmware so the board knows whats going on.
Because I've drank it!
lol.
It's been 3 years since I've bought a new board for an FDM printer. I figured since we have all these fancy machines like the SOVOL 06 that the firmware was ready loaded
nope.
hell no.. not with the varieties of different configurations.
im going out on limb and thinking you are going to put marlin on there?
More than likely
Any advice with Marlin?
This is the printer I want to use Octoprint with haha
visual studio code with platform.IO extension installed.
then grab the newest marlin firmware from the site. and also grab the configuration files for your printer also from the marlin site
extract the marlin folder to its own folder. and extract the configuration files to its own.
copy config files for your printer to the marlin root folder.
load the entire marlin folder into visual code
this will activate the compiling functions of platform.io
then make your changes to configuration.h which board etc.
make sure platformio.ini has the correct environment
your will be something like LPC1768 iirc
and then compile using the checkmark at the bottom of the screen toolbar in visual code.
any luck?
I haven't tried yet, I am getting over a hangover still haha
