Hey all I have an X-plus and it keeps getting clogged after a few layers no matter what I try to print. And when I feed the filament through the extruder, it doesn't seem to be coming out as fast as it should. I already took apart the extruder and cleared out the material, even put in a new nozzle and PTFE tube. it just keeps happening. I'm using PLA. I don't know what else to do or why this started happening to begin with. It started happening suddenly in the middle of a print.

You sure there is no gaps between nozzle and.heatbreak?

#

Also heatsink fan is still running?

Fan is fine. Can you show me a picture of what you mean for your first question?

There should also be a tiny gap between heatblock and heatsink

#

Ignore that qidi has that weird design

#

If you have a second extruder switch.the fan maybe its dying

I do have another one but it needs a new hot end. 😦 m

#

Hmmmm

#

I've only had this 3 years, is it normal for fans to quit after 3yrs?

Took a closer look at the fan. It does seem to be making a weird buzzing sound like it's vibrating against something or hitting something

#

and it becomes really loud if I even touch the housing a little bit

That is a very good example.. that would have helped me 4 months ago.

Okay. Well better late then never

Turns out I had the fan spacer in backwards. I fixed it but it's still feeding very slowly 😦

#

Could having the fan positioned slightly wrong over a long period of time caused it to go bad more quickly?

rancid pine
#

maybe if it got too hot

#

but its also possible that the heating capsule the temp sensor or something else died

#

these are usally sensitive components

shrewd chasm
#

Ah, what does the heating capsule do?

rancid pine
#

It heats the filament?

shrewd chasm
#

My first suspicion currently is the fan because I had the spacer in wrong so that may have caused it to become too hot over time

I know dumb question xD
