Hey yall.
Specs:
Creality Ender 3 V2.
I'd say rookie lvl experience at the moment

How did you mount the CR touch? And is the probe extended when this happens?

#

I've had a rather good experience leveling the bed manually on my Ender 3 and the prints stick too well on my end. But my machine uses a different bed material.

#

In any case, rubbing a glue stick on the bed can help to make things stick to the bed.

shy spade
#

I heard using glue on PEI is a bad idea.

Print temps:
Head: 200
Bed: 70

I bought it used.
The whole printer, or just the CR Touch? Did the probe come with the printer?

#

Also, I assumed that you were using the original glass bed.

If it's hitting the prints, it's probably mounted too low. I don't know how to disable the CR Touch on the firmware but I'd suggest removing it and leveling the bed the old fashioned way.

Also, post pictures of how the CR Touch is mounted. It should make things easier to understand.

#

Do note that if the bed is too low, a leveling sensor won't be able to work properly.

#

Wait, the print lifts up and hits the sensor, right?

#

I got confused at first and thought that the sensor was hitting the print and causing it to lift.

limpid slate
#

This should allow the sensor to work properly.

It's peeling up from the front left corner, right?

#

Can you home the printer, disable the steppers, and check if the nozzle is higher than the problematic corner?

#

Just be careful not to scratch the bed.

#

Also, of you move or play around with the CR Touch, you have to check the Z offset before printing again.

Running another print. At the moment bed adhesion appears to be good.

My temp seems to adjust by itself though. Started at 220 that I sent manually

Now at 200. Just bumped it up to 206 just in case though.

Bed temp i believe has consistently been set for 68

shy spade
#

2 hours in. No significant issues so far. Just a bit of stringing.

I adjusted the CR touch again and leveled the bed etc simple due diligence stuff

shy spade
#

2.5 hours in and print begins to raise at this edge.

shy spade
#

For the record this is the 1st time it has raised at this particular edge. Usually at the front left is where it happens.

shy spade
#

Approx 4.5 hours in:
The other side begins to lift.

#

Also just noticed it sheared off the CR touch tip.... smh

dreamy mason
#

that looks like warping due to cooling. happens to me alot when i print large. try using a brim instead of a skirt for bed adhesion

The adapter for the Ender 3 should look like the picture I sent. Maybe the wrong adapter?

#

Ope. If the cr is working it's fine, I also misread. But yea, just print with a brim. Prints like that are really susceptible to warping due too cooling. If it's pla bed temp might be a little hot. And if you can't use gluestick, I use hairspray. After I print I pour a little isopropyl alcohol on it and dissolve it all and wipe it around, then I let it dry. On my glass bed I almost can't get prints off sometimes 😂😂

shy spade
#

I ordered some probe replacements, so once they arrive I should be good to try some more stuff out with the brims and stuff

dreamy mason
#

Wait why did your order probes?

#

Wait is that the cr or bl touch lol

shy spade
dreamy mason
#

Plastic probe is bl, metal probe is cr

shy spade
dreamy mason
#

I have an idea, 1 second

#

So, from your pictures, the issue with it catching on the print, the bl touch probe is deploying during a print.

shy spade
#

When in stowed state

dreamy mason
#

What do you mean by stowed states

shy spade
#

Nah its not, it goes a lot further when deployed.

dreamy mason
#

It shouldn't be extended at all during print

#

By my knowledge it has 2 states, deployed, and retracted. There is no in between

#

It's a big favor but try it for the sake of science, unplug the bl touch from the probe end, remove the cord from the sheath, so it's not near the other cables and try a print again. What I've seen is its really susceptible to interference, alot of people take the black and white wires out from both ends and twist them.

shy spade
#

Hmmm I'll take pics later for u
Maybe there's an issue I'm unbeknownst to

dreamy mason
#

Most likely, you said you bought this used with the bl installed?

#

not a you problem, I feel it's a mix of previous user and hardware issues

#

I'm going to bed, I'll be at work in 12 hours. Dm me I'm going to be bored ill see what I can find out

supple python
#

From what i read you use 70 c for the bed?

#

Thats maybe too hot for your brand of pla

#

Basicly it gets too weak so the upperlayers pull up

shy spade
supple python
#

my pla was between 55 and 65 but i use a pei surface

shy spade
supple python
#

other question did you ever clean the bed with water and soap? ipa can will leave a residue

shy spade
supple python
#

isopropyl alcohol and what alcohol did you use

#

not every type is suited

shy spade
shy spade
#

So I ran my printer on something while I was away which is a mistake and now this happened

#

Fml

#

Anyone have tips on how to clean this disaster up?

#

I got most of it off.... but it was quite the ordeal...

#

Is it easy to replace the fan in the front? Im concerned that I may have damaged it because the filament got into the fan area.

shy spade
#

Update I cleaned it all out and everything is working ok at the moment.

#

Still having occasional sticking problems but adding brims helps a lot.

livid tide
#

using glue on pei isnt bad btw

#

not sure if someone mentioned that
