(RESOLVED) Good morning
probably me not doing something correct๐Ÿ™ˆ

I found a bed level test I wanted to try it's scaled at 220*220 my build size sliced in cura 5.3.1 & 5.3.0 neither show any errors. Run the test and it collides with the bed plug so I pulled that exact gcode file that I sliced back through Cura to check it and it's now saying it's too big for my build plate comes up with all the warnings that it didn't before. Also Tried auto extension level test from Cura same thing slices fine but if I pull that exact gcode it just created back through its too big for the build plate I didn't attempt to run that one tho

I guess you added a skirt or forgot that cura has that safety area around your printbed making it smaller

Full bed size is 235 It slices appropriately tho with no warning that it's too big I'll check the skirt setting tho didn't think about that going outside of the zone

Did you just start with 3D-Printing?

#

Because I wouldnt recommend Cura to anyone except for very beginners.

@pine jungle You can try to import the sliced gcode from you SD card into OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer (both are free) - maybe they can visualize the error. Also, could you attach the gcode here?
@ivory robin Just curious as to what why is Cura only for very beginners? What does it not do that other slicers do?

Its getting the Job done, easy accessible. But when you want to do things a little more advanced you getting unnecessary limitations because of simplifcations. For example: When you want to do supports there is in cura like an Switch, on/Off for all parts on the buildplate. In Prusa or Superslicer you can place supports manualy with a brush or only for specific models on the buildplate. You can adjust brims and many more features. You can adjust more features for different filament. I started a few weeks ago with that and so far I start to avoid cura because I like to have more control over my prints. Nothing is wrong with Cura, but when you want to get a deeper knowledge or more options its limited.

Little over a month or so with zero successful prints lmao so yeah I'm a noob that apparently sucks at 3d printing

#

I didn't mind Prusa but doesn't have tree supports least I didn't see away to add them.

3D-Printing is a very complex topic, adapt, improve, overcome! Everyone of us is coming down that road and there is a big Community to ask for help!

#

So dont give up

I'm trying not too ๐Ÿ™ˆ just run into every possible issue so learning everything the hard way. plus side I do know how to tear down and rebuild my printer done it several times extruder failed learned how to replace that. I have a friend that doesn't know any of the terms and prints all day everyday with only small issues I help her fix yet I can't grasp it for myself yet

can you post the gcode you used ? then i can take a look at it

I believe @rustic glade maybe right , might want to check if importing the gcode file is making cura think that is a part and the safety area would be in conflict with the size

@ivory robin Good arguments - I must admit I totally agree with them and you ๐Ÿ™‚
@pine jungle Could you maybe just try to scale the model to 200x200 and move it away/center from the "no print" margin? Maybe Cura does not like it being completely to the edge

Hmm I think I found the issue some reason the build plate area in Cura isn't correct the blue outline runs through it instead of around the perimeter of the grid

ivory robin
#

Did you tried another slicer?

rustic glade
#

you sure you are not looking at the dark blue toolpath line?

pine jungle
#

The blue like thats around the perimeter of the virtual build plate it was running through it reinstalled and it fixed that and scaled the file to 210. Found out the elegoo bed size in Cura is wrong but in elegoo Cura it's correct..
Im probably gunna start using Prusa instead.

# soft lantern What would you recommend then???

They explained more above. I started with ender 3v2 Neo and it was just tragic probably 80% user error..
I used Prusa and didn't mind it. My friends got me an elegoo neptune 2s and I switched to Cura cause that's what they use and could help me a little better. Cura seems to be kinda sporadic with errors I'm seeing more and more switching away from it:/

#

Thank you everyone for helping and encouraging me I finally got it trammed to best it's going to to get manually and made it further on any print to date ๐Ÿ™‚
