#CR-10S won’t reach set temp, and looking at an upgrade

how do i figure out what type of control board my printer has and what version?
i'm currently using a cr10s v1, and i'm looking at upgrading to a bigtreetech runout detector
i tried looking up what the default control board is but all i'm seeing is shop pages for upgrades
my printer also won't reach the temperature I set, for example if I set it to 210, it only reaches either the mid 180s or 190s
could i have damaged the hot end when it ran without filament for presumably several hours?
the runout detector is damaged and in hindsight i should have replaced it ages ago, and an overnight print ran out of filament part way through, and now it won't reach temp

Is it possible that running without filament for a while caused the thermistor to come loose?

No its rather incorret build by default.

What could be causing it then?
A faulty capacitor?

Loose temp sensor or a bad partcoolingfan that blows on the heatblock not on the nozzle

#

Silicone sock is love

somber crag
#

That could be all it needs?
How would I check if the fan is bad or if the temp sensor is loose

#

Just open up the extruder?

Normal you should be able to check that without disassembly

somber crag
#

How would I do so

bronze kiln
#

look at your hotend and check if the sensor is not where it should be

somber crag
#

Does it look like the sensor is out of alignment or the cable is damaged?

Looks like the heat block is a little low. Might be the image though that it looks like that

somber crag
#

yeah, the heat block isn't as low as the picture makes it look

#

i'm thinking some parts might be shot, so i just got a new head assembly ordered, along with a new oem runout sensor

#

thanks for the help tho

bronze kiln
#

you are welcome and good luck with the spare parts 🙂

should be here may 2nd so hopefully they work

#

and i was really hoping this would be the perfect excuse for me to get one of those nice microswiss hotends, but my dad keeps saying it doesn't make sense to do an upgrade :/

#

so there goes that plan

bronze kiln
#

unfortunaly thats true

#

tossing that much money on a crelaity printer is ...

#

do you have ferrari tires on your fiat 500?`:D

somber crag
#

Ah
That’s fair

#

Guess I’ll save the nice stuff for when I get a better printer someday

i mean you can install a cht high flow nozzle if you want higher meltrate
