This is my first print on my new Ender 3 S1 Pro using the supplied PLA sample that came with the printer. I was kinda amazed when the printer appeared to print a full layer across the coin in mid air with no support below! How exactly is that possible?
Anyway, here is detail of the first layer. Is this ok or do I need to dial the z axis in more betta?

This is the layer that was on the bed surface when printed

Here you have website where you can calibrate most of parts. Good to start here, read it even couple times, check everything. Even if it means a little "wasted filament", trust me, it is bot wasted if it help calibrate.
Its only machine itself, you also need to change things in slicer, first check if layer width is 0.4 (should be. 0.4 is most common with stock 0.4 nozzle)
Also about your first question how its possible that it prints like midair?
Its a molten plastic and here is also part cooling fan that cools down your print. It will not be molten anymore after a while.
Also when printing like-midair, here is called bridges. Usually it print it slower and colder air from fan have more time to cool it down and maintain it shape even midair

Thanks for your feedback Desti. What is your impression of the first layer of the coin print? This was the included sample file that came with the machine so there where no slicer preferences involved in this one. Can you comment on the quality of the print?

First layer should be little more squished so raise your bed a little more.
Bed leveling is most important thing so its good to know how to do that
For me is best to print small squares at every corner of bed and one in middle. During printing i adjust height of bed using knobs
Raising bed means less distance between bed and nozzle so its more squished
Here, like on this photo, should be as close as you can to middle one

Also, best will be to calibrate everything with good brand of filament, devildesign, sunlu, fiberlogy, esun, eryone (only heard its good, never use)
