#M.2 Slot limited to PCIe 3.0 x2 on A520M-A PRO with Ryzen 7 5700G

I have a technical question regarding my A520M-A PRO motherboard.

According to the official datasheet and manual, the M.2_1 slot should support PCIe 3.0 x4. However, after installing a Hiksemi Future Lite 512GB NVMe (PCIe 4.0 x4), CrystalDiskInfo reports that the drive is running at PCIe 3.0 x2.

My current setup is:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G.

  • Motherboard: MSI A520M-A PRO.

Storage: 1x NVMe Hiksemi, 1x SATA SSD (SATA 1), 1x SATA HDD (SATA 2).

I have already checked the BIOS and updated the chipset drivers, but I cannot find an option to force x4 lanes.

My questions are:

  1. Is the x2 limitation a physical design of this motherboard when used with a 5000G series APU? 2. Is there a specific BIOS setting or a firmware update that enables the full 4 lanes for the M.2 slot?
