I’m having an issue while installing Windows from a USB drive on my MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI motherboard. During the Windows setup process, I get a message saying: “Install driver to show hardware,” and I’m unable to proceed because no drives are detected. It seems like the installer is not recognizing my storage device. I suspect this might be related to missing storage/VMD/RAID drivers, but I’m not sure which exact driver I need or how to properly load it during installation.

Is your storage drive detected in BIOS?
when you browse, can you see the usb drive?
also, is it set to AHCI or RAID mode in BIOS
oh, is this for the boot drive?, yeah, make sure you are in ahci.
Yes
AHCI
is it a brand new drive?
No
so the boot drive is used? ok, whats on it?
I got currently Zorin OS installed on my pc
ok
Trying to switch to windows
shift + f10
diskpart.
then "list disk."
find out what drive you are gonna use for the windows install
I see my ssd and 2 usbs
That would be Disk 0
Done
It says “DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.”
How do i do that
now, close the console
and the driver select
and go back to where you should see drives
if the drive hasnt appeared, press refresh
Still no drivers were found
close the drivers page
Okay i’m now rebooting
Still same screen
show me
i have multiple musings....
win 10 or 11 (cant tell from the screenshots 🥲 ), is BIOS in UEFI or CSM mode etc
Win 11
setup would complain if they were in csm mode
i've not tried on win 11 🥲
Alright ill boot into my BIOS and see if that’s the case
yeah, it pops up with a message saying the machine is not compatible if you are in csm mode
you want to be in uefi mode
and you want to disable any intel vmd stuff
sadly, msi doesnt have a bios guide for this board
My motherboard weird in general theres not even a option to disable secure boot
its required for 11
Not that i need it anymore since im switching from Linux
I had win 11 before and it worked fine
there probably is, hidden in a menu
can you show the storage devices screen?
Wait, could it be an issue that i got a tiny11 usb?
maybe
wait, you are using a modified windows 11 installer?
Not a thing only thing close to it is Storage Hierarchy
Yeah
Yeah, sorry bud, not touching that mess
Should i just get a clean one? Maybe that’s why it doesn’t find my hardware
load a proper install on your usb drive
