Alright i dont want to use Google or ChatGPT because honestly i would prefer someone with knowledge to kinda maybe throw me a bone.

Let's say I swap my 14900k for another (new) 14900k. One of the steps from MSI motherboards states the following:

"confirm the new CPU is detected and set up your XMP/EXPO profile for RAM."

As a layman hardware guy..why is this stressed as so important? I turned XMP off (gray in BIOS) and as far as I can tell my ram is pretty much exactly the same as it was before? I get that XMP essentially is for high load efficiency but is having it on or off inherently bad? Is a 14900k "looking" for XMP to be off or on during its initial boot or something? I feel real dumb asking this

question is why wouldnt you confirm it

#

allowing the profile would probably maximize your speeds

Like I said I feel really dumb for asking, no need to make me feel stupid for asking

#

I'll take my questions to another place tbh, Intel Discord was friendly enough to help

These responses just seem like super like "why tf are you not using this selection you have no idea about and are being cautious"
