#z790 Tomahawk not detecting GPU

The build is a new Z790 Tomahawk WIFI DDR4 with an i7-14700k and an RTX 4070 on windows 11

Troubleshooting i've tried:
New PSU and cables
A different GPU (RTX 2080)
Different monitor and cables (hdmi and display port)
Thought it might be a bad board so I exchanged for a new one. Still had the same issue
Some bios settings

Things I haven't tried:
Different OS
Different processor, my old build used a ryzen chip so i couldnt test that

Computer otherwise works fine and boots to windows and displays from the boards' hdmi output, so I don't expect it to be a bad processor. Is there any thing else I can try? I really feel like theres just some obscure setting i need to change and it'll finally detect it. Does anyone have any potential solutions i could try?

Hey,

I just wanted clarification on a couple of things that you mentioned.

When you say you tested a Rtx 2080 in the system, were you able to get an image using the GPU?

Have you tried using your RTX 4070 in another system to see if the GPU itself isn’t the problem?

Have you tried using a different PCIe slot on the motherboard?

What is the exact behavior you are seeing when you plug your monitor into the GPU?

Do you get an image when you plug your cables into the motherboard directly?

Can you attach photos of your built system with the RTX 4070 installed?

No image with the rtx 2080, the 4070 does display using another board. There is not enough clearance to use other other PCIE slot and i do not have a test bench or an extension cable.

The exact behavior is when the computer boots, the fans spin up on the card and then stop before the boot completes. When launching the nvidia control panel it gives an error saying there is no nvidia card detected (or something along those lines)

I do get an image when plugged into the board directly
