First of all thank you!
To answer your question. Sadly no. I've tried plugging it to different outlets around my apartment and nothing.
so you've done rebuilding the whole PC and it's still the same?
power cord
motherboard power cord
motherboard itself
gotta check one by one
Yes, Still the same. Checked the power cord. Checked the cord for the Mobo. Mobo itself doesn't look like there's anything wrong with it.
Hey @humble cedar
Your PCPartPicker links aren't working.
So I don't know what CPU and motherboard are being used.
So guessing at this point.
Make sure your BIOS version supports your CPU.
This might be worth asking: check if PSU's on/off switch is in the ON position.
I am just leaving this message here to keep an eye out for the pc part picker list and determine if anything looks incompatible.
It might also be helpful if you take detailed photos of everything and post them in here.
Hi! Sorry for the late response and thanks for helping out. I apologize as well for sending out a broken link!
@red saffron I've switched it to the ON position several times and was not getting any power.
Here is the parts list link:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pP6HN6
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 4060, Montech SKY TWO ATX Mid Tower
I'll post some photos later on when I get back from my errands! Thanks!
The CPU and MB should be compatible out of the box, so it shouldn't be a bios incompatibility issue. We can take a detailed look at the photos later. Pro tip, take the glass side panel off before taking photos of the inside to help with clearer photos.
That's good to know at least. I apologize for the quality of the photos or if they're taken badly. I can share more if needed but here are some that I just took.
Try the suggestions in the Micro Center article.
Have you tried 17. and 20. on that list?
Check your motherboard manual for an onboard power button. I don't believe your motherboard has one... after looking over pics of your mobo and skimming your manual. https://www.cgdirector.com/turn-on-motherboard-without-case-switch/
Could be a faulty power button on your case.
Also try power on with bare minimum components connected.
Have you used the other EPS 8-pin cable from your PSU in CPU_PWR2?
Also, I do not know if this would cause an issue, but there is no fan plugged into the CPU_Fan1 header, according to that components diagram that @red saffron posted above. There can be an issue where the system thinks that nothing is cooling the CPU and puts out an error. I have not specifically heard anything about the system failing to turn on, but there may need to be something plugged into that header.
I also think you should put another CPU power cable into that vacant spot at the top left. The 12700K is should not draw enough power to need both cables, but again, it might be something the motherboard senses and does not want to power on.
You might want to also try eliminating as many variables as possible, such as the RGB plug ins, if the other suggestions do not work first.
@humble cedar Just curious if there is an update with this issue.
Hi! Sorry for the late response. School started this week and I've been busy with that and work on top. I finally gave up and brought it at Micro Center. The technician said that the mobo I got from Amazon was bricked. So I ended up buying a new mobo and returning the one I got to Amazon.
Got it. No amount of diagnosing is going to fix a broken motherboard, but I am glad that is all it takes to get you up an running.
Yeah. I was really stressed out about it since it was my second try at building a PC. First one didn't have any problems besides me plugging in the CPU power cord to the Mobo. Glad I did everything right besides the broken part.
Thank you all again for helping me with this!
I understand the stress of a new build. My first build did not power on immediately either, but my issue was not fully plugging in the MB power into the MB. Enjoy the system!
That's great news! Glad you got your system finally up and running! Good luck with school and work!
