Recently my system has started running extremely hot. I found it idling at around 65 - 70C. Normally idles at around 45 - 55C. Virtually any load on the CPU will spike the temp up to 90 - 91 and what looks like the CPU thermal throttling kicks in. It hits 90 at just 5% load. Just trying to update games on steam was maxing out my temps while everything else stayed cool.
I normally don't see temps like that except when doing highly cpu intensive tasks like video encoding or when the excess heat from the GPU makes everything hot. Shutting down for several hours brings the temps back into the normal range for idle, but loads still send it straight back up to 90. And the idle temp slowly increases over time.
I am also hearing an odd sound coming from the machine. It isn't a fan or hdd sound and the system hasn't made that noise before. Only thing I can think of is the cooler is starting to fail, or I'm finally being affected by the sediment issue.
