Hi, I'm using a GHPM-Mobius TG 0.5mm Airbrush and I'm having issues with painting / priming for longer than 10-15 minutes. I like to paint vases and other bigger 3D printed objects.

What I use:

  • GSW primer
  • GSW thinner
  • vallejo flow improver
  • 20-30 PSI
  • clean airbrush

This also happens with various airbrushing paints. I use a digital scale and I track down my proportions. I'm 99% positive it's not due to thick paint.

I also have retarded but I rarely use it. Paint accumulates at the tip and it splutters, it clogs, or the airbrush doesn't spray straight anymore. I have to stop and thoroughly clean it to continue. Every 10-15 minutes!

On a regular airbrush, I know the two action system is critical: push down, then move back the trigger, then reverse. If you don't do it correctly, you get problems at the tip. Ok, but with my Mobius, which has a different trigger, how am I supposed to prevent that? That's my best guess regarding the issue.

It sounds like it’s thick paint. I get you’re saying you’re pretty sure it isn’t, but that’s what thick paint in an airbrush does. If it’s too thin you’ll get spiderwebbing on the model.

I had similar issues until switching to Army Painter air primer. Even with it pre-thinned, for the black primer I’m still needing to put in a couple drops of flow improver to avoid the clogging issue. GW makes way too thick paint, so even if you’re thinning it considerably it’s probably still too thick
