#Era 3 TDs

With the SK-105A2 coming tomorrow, Era 3 TDs have had a bit of light shone on them once again. Mainly in regards to the number of premiums to non-premiums, but generally their overall lack of numbers in general.

Naturally, I would like to see more. That's generally the case for any tanks, but I would indeed like to see more Era 3 TDs.

The vehicle attached is a Wiesel armed with twin HOT ATGMs. Unlike the TOW, I propose that this be slower to account for the full turret and more potent ATGM.
There is also a variant that replaces one of the HOT missiles with a 20mm autocannon

#

Aforementioned variant.

The AMX-10 HOT is another ATGM armed vehicle, again with HOTs.
In this instance, there's four of them. There is another version with a 20mm autocannon

#

Aforementioned variant

#

With the SK-105A2 being a TD, I would argue that the AMX-13 HOT also be added as a TD.

The gun wouldn't be the best, certainly, but it would probably still do fine against the sides and rear of MBTs

#

The STT Chimera 1984 was a proposal to use older Chieftain hulls in conjunction with the then-new Challenger.
Much like the CTR in Era 2, this vehicle has very thick frontal armour and potentially a new gun (I believe the one on the MBT-80).

Wasn't adopted or built, but would make for one of the very few true casemate TDs in Era 3.

#

I would actually prefer it be a TD tank after the Mk 11.

#

A Challenger based crane-mounted ATGM armed vehicle.

A number of concepts like this were developed from several nations, and improvised examples have been used.

#

Naturally, the Germans built a prototype of the concept on a Leopard 1 hull

forest wadi
#

The Sprut-SD and Sprut-SSV are classed as TDs, so would both be applicable here

#

It would be inappropriate to mention the SK-105A2 and not bring up the SK-105A3.

Upgunned with the 105mm M68 and equipped with a stabiliser, a prototype was built.

Are these suggestions serious or inflammatory to get reactions ?
Because we are nowhere near April 1st yet

forest wadi
#

April 1st will be a bunch of slightly modified T-72s.

No, these are serious suggestions. Some cannon armed, some ATGM armed. Nothing outside the realm of reason for the game.

vapid depot
#

It’s insanity to suggest bringing more wiesels in and that crane thing would be completely broken

Would love to see some of these expand some tech tree options for TDs if possible

The Chimera, AMX-10, Sprut and SK-105A3 could probably be put onto a TT without too much difficulty.

As much as Tom will be loath to hear this, the Wiesel HOT should be doable too. Put it after a Jaguar 2 or something.

The telescoping vehicles are very much premium. Or at the very least, the Challenger hull is. Might be possible to add a few German designs into a TT branch.

The AMX-13? Could come after a SS.11 TT vehicle

"I want these tanks to be added and balanced"

"Oh so you must want the game to be filled with tiny tracked vehicles"

#

That's not at all what my man Sturm said

woven hollow
#

He just hates anything small and or had atgm,s/autocannon,s

grim crane
#

I expect nothing less

woven hollow
#

Irrelevant if said tank is actually balanced

#

Such as the Bradley,s

#

If not underwhelming

spark python
#

As for other main cannon TDs? Object 450

Object 477 (there's one based off the T-80 and then one based off the T-64)

#

Oh I get it now

spark python
#

And then there's the 477A1 nota that is a further iteration on the T-80 based make of the earlier 477

grim crane
vapid depot
#

That’s not what I said

grim crane
#

Shame on you Sturm. I can't believe you would ever wanna do that to Cold War

vapid depot
#

It’s childish wanting to keep adding these tiny vehicles

spark python
#

Childish? There are only a handful of these kinds of small vehicles that ever existed compared to the litany of other more conventional tanks with their sizes

#

Like a 30:1 ratio

#

And I'm being generous with that

vapid depot
#

They are like vehicles that belong in a circus

woven hollow
vapid depot
#

It’s bad enough that we already have 3 tiny vehicles in Cold War without bringing anymore in.

spark python
#

Oh no!! 3 of them ??
It's just too much!

woven hollow
#

Dude just likes to ragebait

vapid depot
#

Keep on rotting the game out then 👍

woven hollow
#

Games fine lmao literally only you and you totally not a alt does this my guy joeidk

#

Get over it it's honestly annoying af

vapid depot
#

It’s not only me loads of players hate these tiny vehicles that don’t belong in the game

woven hollow
#

Funny how you complain about cw having fast rat tanks but not ww2 where there is a lot of them lol

In regards to tiny tanks, there's only three families you need to be concerned.

The ELC, which is from the 50's/60's and thus not in consideration for this thread, the Wiesel which had already been mentioned, and the VPX-5000.

There's two variants worth mentioning. The HOT armed and the Milan armed. I've attached both

smoky kiln
#

Why am I surprised to see Tom/Toby appear when a Wiesel is mentioned

spark python
#

There's also the VPX110M with the MILAN MCT turret like the second image of that VPX 5000

forest wadi
#

Single Milan VPX-5000 for sheer tininess, complete with average 10' Frenchman

#

A Warrior with the Quad-HOT turret. Although it might be pre-Warrior technically

#

And for yet another HOT armed light tank, a Spanish M41 variant.

#

Because there's TOW missiles in both Era 2 and 3, this M41 TUA is possible in Era 3.

spark python
#

UDES 17

#

UDES 32

#

32 got a full mockup made

woven hollow
#

Looks goofy but probably would be fun

#

I wanna get this tank and the price ain’t bad for a new release tank base, but it’s gonna get eaten by MBTs in era 3

It’s pen is fine but not great

I love autoloaders too

I think the rdf remains the king of autoloaders in Cold War. I want the tc8 or whatever it’s called tho

#

Less than 1k coins from getting the t57, it’ll be a fun tank, but def not OP

#

I guess the kranvagn premium in era 1 may be the strongest, I don’t have it

But I love the rdf that thing is amazing

This Bradley LOSAT is certainly one of the more interesting ATGM armed designs.

Unlike standard missiles, the LOSAT is a kinetic ATGM. It uses a rocket to launch a rod of metal at hypersonic speeds. The actual penetration of the system is unknown, but a test missile did destroy a T-72 variant with ERA.

#

This is a post-99 vehicle, but a LOSAT armed carrier based on the M8 chassis was in development in 1995.

#

Naturally, the M113 Hellfire is a textbook Era 3 missile carrier, on account of the Hellfires being utterly massive

grim crane
forest wadi
#

Shame there's only a small number of Kinetic ATGM designs out there

grim crane
forest wadi
forest wadi
#

The CCSLEP on XM1108 is an upgraded version of the Chaparral SAM. Unlike the base Chaparral, it has access to mount Hellfires and potentially LOSATs on the bottom rail.
Whilst the SAM is not relevant to us, the Hellfires absolutely are.

spark python
#

Aaannnd here comes Tom with the mass thumb downs for no good reason

forest wadi
#

The Object 299 was an idea for a base platform that reached the prototype stage.
A single base chassis was constructed.

There were proposals for a MBT with a 152mm gun, a heavy IFV and a missile carrier. This is the MBT

#

The missile carrier has vertically launching missiles.

spark python
#

UDES 32 leads to the further development of the T140s and O140 with the pod mounted design
It's more a continuation of the design for the UDES 17 that would eventually carry over to the O140 design

forest wadi
#

UDES 19 -> UDES 17 -> UDES 32 -> Strv 2000 O140

spark python
#

Haven't been able to find a better image of this O140/40 model
Don't know if a standalone O140 was very conceived, but the model doesnt have that bofors gun where it should be

vapid depot
spark python
#

a bottom era 3 140mm i think would be interesting

#

this is the model for the standard T140

woven hollow
#

Ngl hope on the 2026 roadmap the cw Swedish line gets announced PepeToast

spark python
#

the one next to it im not 100% sure what it is, but it seems to be similar in structure to what the T120 was

forest wadi
forest wadi
#

The 120mm?

spark python

woven hollow
#

Are there any potential candidates for era3 Italian td,s ?

spark python
#

furthest left is most likely the 120B

forest wadi
woven hollow
#

Damn

forest wadi
#

There's a couple of TUA designs that can function in Era 3, but it'll basically be a different flavour of M901

spark python
woven hollow
#

Interesting

#

But first we need wheeled vehicles finally in cw

#

That would unlock so much

spark python
#

it is a different hull model to that of the above O140 model

woven hollow
#

You know besides Italy and Sweden cw tt,s what other nations could be added ?

#

Maybe nk?

spark python
#

swiss

#

brazil

#

south africa

forest wadi
#

Austria is a possibility

#

Spain mayhaps

spark python
#

austria will undoubtedly split off from a swiss line

forest wadi
#

A Yugoslav line might be possible too

spark python
#

spain would be a weird one with placement because it would likely be split up into different sections within the larger umbrella of the western alliance conglomerate

#

the spanish wouldnt all be in just one spot like all the other nations are

#

unless some serious workaround and placments of nations got changed

woven hollow
#

We could also get a mini branch of sk tanks

spark python
#

really wish i was able to get my hands on these models in person and see the real names/history behind them

#

same for the swiss chansard tanks because apparently theres a whole slew of those that were made that no images/details exist for them

spark python
#

L120 is also mentioned, and that does seems to fit the middle ones looks comparativelely to what the L140 was supposed to look like

spark python
forest wadi
#

For the purpose of this thread, I would only consider the O140/40 as a TD. If only due to the pod system.

spark python
#

thats what im also kind of mixed on is if it should be a TD or a heavy

forest wadi
#

Everything else is more reliant on what comes before it. For example, if the "final" Strv 2000 came after the Strv 103D or UDES 11, then that'll be a TD. After the Strv 105, a Heavy

spark python
#

i designed my one onf how the developments led to one another not striclty abiding by classification of tanks - thats why its all more intervonnected at the end

#

though, i can likely split it up so that there not one singular point for just a top tier era 3 out of all the rest, ill figure it out
