I have just gotten back into the game and remembered that you used to be able to buy them back is it still possible

Yes you can buy the back with silver, depending on when you sold them.
Check the premium tech-tree.

If you traded the tanks in you can not buy them back however.

Hello, any Premium tanks that you have sold that are available to get back would be available to purchase for Silver from the Premium Tech Tree.
