In stock guns, premium rounds are extremely important
When your tank is still full stock, it's slow, has low firepower and is unable to penetrate anything unless you shoot gold, please do not take my only hope away

Plus even some fully upgraded guns need to fire premium rounds against same tier targets

As well as some tanks that can't upgrade their guns but still have trash penetration. Ever fought a Tortoise with a Kv5? Even with premium rounds it's not pretty

Make premium rounds keep their pen but lower their alpha and make them the same cost as the standard round

No, that would literally kill tanks with bad standard rounds

If your standard round isn't effective you get forced to lower your DPM to even damage stuff

While tanks with good standard rounds literally will not be affected

Tier 10 for example even tanks with good standard rounds will struggle to pen sth like an e100 is4 etc.
the only thing i think it will do is give a heavy better chances against a medium in a close fight.

Naw I'm just sick of premium rounds spam. I just liked the way it used to be gold only for premium rounds and that way people can learn how to play better and not take the easy way out with premium rounds.

The only way to punish premium rounds that I know seems to work reliably is to nerf their damage
Altho this still hurts tanks that need them, it does this less and players who want to deal more damage will tend to change between standard and premium ammunition, like it is already the case in blitz
But Idk whether this is a good solution, it just seems to be one that works

Most tanks that I spam premium on them have premium shells because I want to maximize/ guarantee damage for marks of excellence, especially in certain ww2 tanks.

If it's really that big of a deal. Limit premium rounds to say 30% of someone's loadout. Not gold only, that just makes the game actually P2W
