Adding the option to change which shell loads first, second, and third would be really helpful for tanks that have a diverse load out, but may not have the optimal load order for the tank.
An example would be the M60A2 era 2 medium tank.
The M60A2 loads Heat 1st, Premium HE 2nd, and it's ATGM last. Personally I wish I could have my ATGM 1st, HE 2nd, and HEAT last. Shooting the missile first is best for initial burst damage and I like to swap to HE to finish low or weak targets, but because of the current order of shells, I have to swap from missiles to HEAT then to HE, missing some milliseconds that can be game changing.
There are other examples of this, but to keep the post short I'll leave it here. Ammo order customization is a small simple tweak that I think would just add QoL.

I mean i like customization options, but I just hit the ammo swap button to the round i want first before the timer hits 0. that way the round i want gets loaded as soon as the game starts. how is this no different from what you suggest other than extra work in the garage to save 1 second before the battle starts?

I think he means so in game he only has to click the button once instead of twice to reach his desired shell after firing a shell
