Hey Devs, I recorded this video, from 2 different angles so you can see what is actually happening. Quest 3, Kapalua, hole 9, back tees, medium pins, and pro greens. We need either a fix, or implement accidental hits for these types of shots.

I definitely get the frustration here. Shots like that can feel brutal, especially in a tournament round.
Most of the time when we see something like the ball launching straight backward it ends up coming from a large tracking jump with the controller right at that moment. In this case it looks like your headset loses tracking when you hit the top of your backswing, After that things get pretty wild trying to recover and you can even see a frame where your club is facing backwards in that video. From the game’s perspective, the headset is simply telling us the controller suddenly moved in a certain way, and it’s very difficult for us to distinguish between a real swing and a tracking glitch before the shot result happens. There isn't a simple solution to just "fix" those kind of aberrant data point from the headset.
We’d absolutely like to improve how the accidental hit system handles a number of situations, particularly with backward shots. The tricky part is that we have to be extremely careful with any changes we make there. If the system becomes too forgiving, it can open the door to potential exploits, where players intentionally trigger a again a reset again and again until they hit a good shot. That said, there are areas where we may be able to get a bit more dynamic looking at a combo of all things things like the final ball position, launch direction, launch speed, and other factors when determining whether the accidental hit prompt should appear.
It’s definitely on our radar and something we’d like to improve, but we need to approach it carefully to avoid introducing edge cases that could be abused and really hurt competitive integrity.
