I frequently get blue or red lines that appear to eminate out of the controllers in whatever direction I'm pointing, often with circles at the end of the lines. Have not been able to get a screen shot unfortunately. I click a random variety of controller buttons / triggers until they go away and I get a regular golf club view again. Any idea what causes these and how to fix it?

When you push forward on the thumbstick, you should see a blue line with a circle. That is how you teleport around the course.
If the line is red, you are pointed at an area that you cannot teleport to.
You press the trigger to get back to your ball on the course
