#No hardware audio detected after kernel update

Greetings, my relevant basic laptop specs:

Device: LENOVO 83HM Yoga Slim 7 15ILL9
CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (Lunar Lake)
OS: LMDE 7 - Cinnamon 64-bit
Current Kernel: 7.0.7+deb13-amd64 (updated regularly through trixie-backports)

so i have been encountering audio issues on lmde7 since 6.19.13-deb13-amd64 and future kernels since, the last good version is 6.19.11, and any previous version kernels that has the copy fail vulnerability patched (like 6.12.85) also has the same problem.

aplay -l:
aplay: device_list:279: no soundcards found...

inxi -A:
Audio:
Device-1: Intel Lunar Lake-M HD Audio driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-lnl
API: ALSA v: k7.0.7+deb13-amd64 status: kernel-api
Server-1: PipeWire v: 1.4.9 status: active

any pointers of what went wrong, what information you still need to check, and how to fix it is appreciated, currently no idea how to restore audio except forcing the kernel to stay on 6.19.11
not particularly good at computers so any help is appreciated

yeah, i did go trixie-backports to get regular updates, the stable version has a separate audio issue that is fixed by updating the kernel to a newer one

#

6.12.76 has no audio, but the laptop can detect the soundcard. 6.12.85 encounters the no soundcard problem so going back to that version will be 2 audio problems at once

it seem this sound chip is one of the bad suported one...

#

I really don't know if we can do something if this is at kernel level

ah
i haven't seen someone have the exact issue online so i though it is like a weird problem with this laptop

can you show result of inxi -Axx to have chip id

wait...

#

Intel Lunar Lake-M HD Audio is the HDMI sound output

#

what is FiiO DSP Audio ?

#

can you show result of lspci ?

near sundial
#

FiiO DSP Audio is my external headpones

#

and it does not matter here

dark bough
#

ok, show result of lspci because i see no internal sound chip here

ok so, actually it seem that intel is the internal sound chip

#

it seem several people fixed issue by updating BIOS

#

unfortunately, it seem Lenovo does not let you update BIOS without Windows

#

Sorry I have no more idea...

for what it's worth I just updated firmware from fwupdmgr, still got the same audio problem

try backing to older kernel

#

maybe newer firmware with older kernel is a win

6.19.11 worked even with the old firmware, the update to 6.19.13 and further breaks it
