#Sound does not work in my Vision C15 Positivo laptop
634 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Thank you! I'll try it to see if it works
How do I check what my kernel is?
u dont need to mess with kernels probaly. just what is in the text file.
uname -r if you must be aware of the kernel in-use
ur not in proper place
u have to change directory to the thing where script is
eg> if ur in Downloads at the prompt, do cd fixsound
or whatever the name of the director containing the script program is
ls -lh *.sh
typically when no errors come back from a terminal command, it has accomplished it
It showed:
-rwxrwxr-x l familia familia 2,2K jan 27 10:48 install.sh
(The install.sh is green)
So I can follow the next steps in the txt? Ok thx
What am I supposed to delete here? I didn't find the snd_soc_sof_es8336.quirk=0x02
it's fine then, just ctrl-x to exit
Is the command good?
looks right. put for the Name field: Soundcard maintain On
Is this set up properly?
for lid close action, you may want to put to simply turn off screen
for both ac and battery
Is it "lock screen"?
Wait a sec
Do nothing, turn off, lock screen, and the one that you're not supposed to pick
choice for lid close is yours. you can have it lock the screen (meaning, if u open lid, it will need ur password to see the desktop) , or choose 'turn off'
Ok
You're the goat tysm🥹
It stopped working😭 it only works for a while once I boot up, but then stops working
ensure you turned on the startup soundcard maintain thing
did u even install sox?
apt list -i sox
whereis synth
hm
double check on that startup thing
paste it here, the complete text of the command
and make sure it's enabled
bash -c "sleep 10 && play -q -n synth sine 0 &"|
ok
open system monitor, go to the Processes tab
sort processes by NAME, alphabetically
scroll down the list, see for play
Found it
When I put my mouse over it it says play -q -n synth sine 0
How do I check? It's using CPU if that's what you're asking
Like when I boot it up the speaker makes some noises
Let me check again, restart my Laptop
normal to do that
do you hear the Mint log-in sound?
I don't think so
But I can hear a fart
I can no longer her a fart
I'm using a soundboard site to check if sound works
ok how much time passed between when u can hear and idle time, til u cant
I'll time it, wait a sec
Like 35~ seconds after the first buzzing noise after startup
ok
I was spamming the button to see when it stopped
I'll send u a thing to test. but first. can u send result of inxi -SMAxxx
How do I make the standing up line
check your keys, above the big enter key
check every key, probably needs shift
Oh I found it I'm a dumbass srry
Beside z
Didn't do anything
use with shift key
ya i noticed pipewire-alsa is missing as a plugin from last inxi report
sudo apt install pipewire-audio-client-libraries
once installed, run:
sudo cp /usr/share/doc/pipewire/examples/alsa.conf.d/99-pipewire-default.conf /etc/alsa/conf.d/
then ls ~/.asoundrc to see if any bad file there
Holy code, I'm gonna take a while to transcribe
I'm logging in
if no file found, good
then systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber
then confirm aplay -L | grep pipewire
then show inxi -Axxx
File or directory does not exist
Is the etc/ supposed to have a space before it?
this done?
Yes
confirm with apt list -i <that package>
u on discord there on laptop?
Yeah
type screenshot in start menu. right click result> add to panel
show screenshot IN WINDOW MODE of terminal
translate the lines after "Pronto" ... 2 lines
Ignoring directory 'nosnap.backup' in directory ' etc/apt/preferences.d/' because there is an invalid extension in the directory's name
sudo cp /usr/share/doc/pipewire/examples/alsa.conf.d/99-pipewire-default.conf /etc/alsa/conf.d/
ok , let's look in nemo:
sudo nemo /usr/share/doc/pipewire/examples <<<< run this now
run it
It opened up my files manager
note, u can use ctrl+shift+ c or v to copy or paste from terminal
show ss (window mode) of file manager
Oh no
Oh no
Did I do something I'm not supposed to?
What is this
in red file manager.. press ctrl-L for location bar
put this path in and press enter after : /etc/alsa/conf.d/
then show it
double click the 99-pipewire-default.conf file and show the text.
same here.
close that editor only
then double click on the 50-pipewire.conf file
(file which is actually a link to a text file)
and show
same
close editor.
right click on the 99-pipewire one from before, and choose 'properties'
show the link target
What
Oh wait right click
/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf.d/99-pipewire-default.conf
That's the link
Simple, permission, open with, or emblems?
the first tab
and you're in this path right now?
oh nvm i see it
Yup
ok close properties
in the file manager...
put in the location bar at top :
/home/familia/
and press enter
then press ctrl-H to show hidden
yes btw
What location bar? The ctrl + L one?
the problem was u have no examples
Where do I find that
scroll
In the part I was?
here. your userhome
with hidden objects turned on
can also do ctrl-F and type .asound
which runs a search in same folder
I did not find it
good
No file found
close rootmode file manager
run in terminal: systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber
show
Did nothing
Do I still do the second one?
yes
It said "pipewire" with a red color
Yes?
before reboot. show result of inxi -Axxx
now u have pipewire-alsa as a third plugin
.
It's rebooting now
Okay
and repeat this too, the inxi. make sure pipewire-alsa plugin is still there.
or the app rhthmbox , which is included. and go to radios
It's the same thing
teh plugin is there?
Yeah, same thing as last print
ok sound is playing steady on youtube or web radio?
Yup
wait for 60 seconds more and listen
Didn't stop yet
then stop the video or web radio and wait 35 to 50 seconds, and then try to play sound again
Okay, still playing the audio on the video after the 60 seconds
After full minute, still playing
I tested and it's now playing music that goes really hard
after full minute of silent idle, u mean?
the problem was here before. after you did the sound fix guide. you were missing the pipewire-alsa plugin
Thank you!
that's it. solved.
Holy thank you
🥹
Sorry for taking so long of your time
You're not going to believe it...
I closed YouTube and now it's not working again
I just paused and waited
It does
k let's do a different way to keep the sound chip busy
Bro this laptop company must hate consumers with a passion
well, like the guy who made the guide, he found three major shortcomings for it and linux
brb few minutes
Okay
Done
familia? Or another one?
Done
save this audio file and move it to misc
u save discord bookmark in firefox?
No
ok
How do I do that
Done
There
right click space and do 'new empty file'
Done
Okay
#!/bin/bash
mpv --loop-file=inf ~/misc/silence_30.mp3
Do I just copy paste?
put those two lines
And then make this open whenever I startup?
make sure discord doesnt add any other quotes or marks
then got to make script with run permissions
ie - executable
This box with a checkmark?
ok, so mp3 is in misc folder, yes?
in your userhome
and mpv got installed, and shows in start menu now?
Yup
Can I delete the other one?
be sure to save this file
umm... how about : mpv sound sustain
ok. this is the command u put right?
Yeah
tilde sign, /misc/ .....
Yup
ya good
let's hope
It's not there
did u reboot?
Yeah
is mpv in ur menu?
Yeah
ok we'll move the script
mpv Media Player
sudo nemo /usr/bin
copy the sustain.sh file over to that bin folder
i hope u set it executable
It's there now
in command edit this thing to be /usr/bin/sustain.sh
If I double click it, it asks if I want to execute it or display it's content
do execute
The startup thing?
just as a test
What's supposed to happen?
Do I need to move the audio as well?
supposed to open mpv and play a silent file
Does not do that
In neither it works
Didn't do anything
neither?
Neither
Didn't do anything
and show the result
that means u did not move it
use rootmode nemo
to to your userhome as before
from location bar
/home/familia/misc
Okay
ls -l sus*
show ss please
./sustain.sh
In which one
I did
pwd says?
/usr/bin
and you're back to regular user now in prompt yes?
Yeah
./sustain.sh
..
No
show screenshot of terminal
ok that's maybe cuz the problem of the audio timeout
go to your startup applications
fix the command to the new path plz
What's the new path?
No ~ this time?
Okay
Opened it
it opens crystal clear, yes?
Yeah
ok fix the startup thing and then reboot
sudo reboot or normal?
either is ok
Still nothing on taskbar
ok just... quickly play sound
before it times out
go to your /misc folder, and right click the mp3 and choose: open with mpv
nvm it has no repeat button
choose open with celluloid
and put the repeat button on in celluloid
Okay
Now it's repeating
And my fart soundboard still works
Do I do this manually every time?
well... first to see if stuff endures
in the meantime save this file:
and for regular use of main audio files, i recommend audacious.. sudo apt install audacious
when u save that file, get it from your downloads and move it to misc
then right click : Open with audacious
there's also that one. if you like it better. you can open Sound app> effects and change to either of those files for the login event
It's no longer playing any audio
and that's even with celluloid looping the whole time?
The silence_30 was playing in the background
it was looping that silence_30 file?
Yeah
inxi -Axxx is showing the pipewire-pulse , wireplumber, and pipewire-alsa?
the only thing I did differently with the other person, and Idk if made a difference, was having pavucontrol autostart and stay running
did u install audacious yet?
y/n ?
Yup
sudo apt install pavucontrol
Done
add that to your autostart as a custom thing pavucontrol and name it PA Sound Mixer autostart
show also the Sound settings GUI
by ss
yes add and enable that startup thing
Disable the other?
show the third tab of the Sound GUI please
re-enable the sox synth one, and disable the mpv one
Nope
ok try reboot now
it all worked perfectly for the other guy, and has *almost exact same computer.. just maybe bit smaller
make little bit wider that window, for one more tab to show
that's the pulse audio volume control (mixer) app i just had u install
cant see well that. but show the configuration tab. entire extent of window
There
see if sound works now, and after a minute or 2 of no sound applications running
mute your discord tab in firefox with right-click : mute tab
Works fine fn
I did
where are they?
In the download thing
go to them in file app
right click: open with audacious
tell me if it plays - with audible audio
misc?
Oh yeah right
test audibilty
Audible
goooood
ok so close firefox and audacious
wait minute or 90sec and run the wav file
to test then
and pavucontrol was left open?
Yeah
and sox synth thing was set to run in autostart?
You mean bash -c "sleep 10 thing?
yep
Yeah, it's on
then it should just work, like the other guy's did
do u have any of your own mp3 files of real songs?
Nope, the audio didn't work since I got it so I never bothered
open audacious
It's open
save this file
put in your ~/Music folder
then drag it onto audacious so it goes into its playlist
then from start menu, find audacious, right-click: add to desktop
then close audacious after making sure the only thing in its playlist is that m3u relaxation link
then reboot
as soon as u reach desktop , run audacious and hit play
and start your stopwatch
and see EXACTLY how long before sound stops, (if it ever stops)
also what does this last part mean even?
It came with Windows 11 and didn't even run Google,
i told u to run it
manually off the desktop
does the link not work?
Yeah, I opened it and clicked play but there's no audio
cuz it works for me
open rhythmbox then , go to Radio. find that rock one or whatever kink fm
The laptop I'm using came with Windows 11 installed, but it isn't powerful enough to run it, so I installed Linux mint
u mean it could not open a browser and reach google.com?
It could, it was just very laggy, I was only complaining I don't think it's important
It's not showing any music options
I know😭
come on
they USED TO BE?
Now it's 0 gêneros (0)
Last time you told me to check here
Do I just drag into the already open one?
or right click : open with - audacious
idk your defaults
There
audible?
No, the text on top is rolling but nothing else changes
Besides the playing symbol on the left top corner
It changes when I pause and play
oh right click the thing : show playlist
What button
idk
I clicked playlist and there's a lot of options
should be obvious. r-click anywhere
and activate the playlist
and drag it under the main player so it joins it
anyway retry the boot test with this
and start stopwatch at fresh desktop
With what? I don't even know what I did anymore
witn the stream i just sent u that's in audacious rn
Okay, it just took it's sweet time, sorry
Okay I'm on the desktop
What do I do? My timer is running
Okay
from audacious as we discussed.....
u can hear it?
Yeah
Ok
as a test
cuz i give up at this point
u may need bluetooth speaker or a usb soundcard
sudo apt install streamtuner2 if u want more stations
Okay
It's still running
Low-key I need to get ready for bed and my laptop is almost out of battery, so I'll try to fix it properly tomorrow
Thank you so much
20 minutos audio played so far, and didn't stop
yw. i guess u can also just leave audacious running a stream on very low volume
youtube should now also play alongside
or whatever else.
review note: this failed to play anything because silly thing expected to play on jack audio server, instead of pipewire. silly damn thing. wtf.
i bet if u just change the sustain.sh script (the one in /usr/bin) to be
audacious /home/familia/misc/silence_30.mp3 on second line (and have audacious repeat switch turned on) , then it'll work and hold
Do I erase everything on second line and place this?
could try. must use admin-mode editor if in /usr/bin and dont touch anything else in there
