#Keyboard Language Changing/Config

Got a problem I had for ages on windows and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction now I'm on Linux
I'm in the UK but the keyboard i use has a standard US english Layout, it's easier to leave it that way considering the keycaps and stuff, I'm just used to it
I've been looking for ages for a keyboard language to load into my OS which is the same as the US English layout, but changes the Currency from USD to GBP.
Closest I've gotten is finding an online keyboard editor where i Could edit the layout and download a JSON file, But i cannot figure out how to get Linux to find and load said file, anyone got any advice on this?
