#

you're missing wireplumber

#

reinstall wireplumber

#

then after a reboot,
systemctl list-unit-files

#

ensure wireplumber is in there

#

So how do I prevent them from effecting my speaker volume or only effect the master volume?

bold fox
#

it's strange your line-out/headphone jack doesnt show up

#

in the mint SOUND settings

gentle estuary
#

I couldn't figure it out either

bold fox
#

idk if retrovol lets u assing keybinds internally

#

i think it does

#

in which case, you clear the media key binds in Mint's <keybaord: shortcuts> settings thing

#

then assign them to retrovol for master up/down

gentle estuary
# bold fox retrovol

How do I install it? I can't find anything other than git and that doesn't work

#

I asked chatgpt and it said this

gentle estuary
#

the basic problem is that pipewire doesn't detect my headphones

bold fox
#

try ubuntu cinnamon or kubuntu 26.04. it has latest ikernel which may adapt better to this very new motherboard and possibly solve your sound issue. Test from live environment

clever prairie
gentle estuary
clever prairie
#

Headphones do not show there because they follow the sound card's settings

#

If they don't play audio, that's another story

gentle estuary
gentle estuary
#

But they don't show up in output

bold fox
#

iirc , headphone jack DOES show in SOUND module. it just will say either (plugged in) or (unplugged)

gentle estuary
#

But still sound is playing from both

clever prairie
#

Then it's a hardware issue?

gentle estuary
clever prairie
#

Because, plugging in headphones should physically disable speakers from talking

gentle estuary
#

Because they show in alsamixer

#

I can control the output via alsamixer

bold fox
clever prairie
#

alsamixer is lower level

gentle estuary
#

Except, if i use the audio buttons to increase/decrease audio on my keyboard, it increases the speak volume too

bold fox
#

it's either kernel or reflash BIOS. the first option is safer.

gentle estuary
#

6.17.0-23-generic
This is my kernel

bold fox
gentle estuary
#

As I am trying to explain to @clever prairie

bold fox
#

you need kernel 7.0 or whatever latest ubuntu or endeavour OS offer

gentle estuary
#

got it

clever prairie
#

Did a bit of research

#

It can either be a driver, ACPI, or hardware failure

#

Rule out the driver issue by checking out ubuntu 26.04 like stunner said

#

if it persists between kernels, you might need to update the BIOS to rule out ACPI

#

send the output of dmesg -l warn+ | grep ACPI from both 6.17 and 7.0 kernels

clever prairie

pactl set-sink-port alsa_output.pci-0000_05_00.6.analog-stereo analog-output-headphones
After a bit of testing, the above command fixed it
