I would like to dual boot linux mint and CachyOS

How do i go about it in terms of partitioning?

I have 8TB hard drive

#

No partitions created I should add from scratch

8TB hard drive

-Partitions-

EFI 1000MIB
Root BTFRS 3.65TIB -> CachyOS
Swap 8GIB
Root EXT4 3.62TIB -> LMDE
Am I missing anything?

or this is the correct partition layout eg proper way

I think you'd be better off to install cachy OS first. (only need 2-300 MB EFI partition)

#

the rest is fine. ensure drive is gpt formatted

#

if you use BTRFS, I think you need an ext4 boot partition . I'd say let cachy do an automatic install. You can shrink stuff later from LMDE live boot before installing LMDE

Yeah for mint it switched from btrfs to ext4 after manual creation as no @home set

or it uses ext4 by default 🤔
